7 Better Turkey Burger Recipes

By , SparkPeople Blogger
Ground turkey (and ground chicken) are staples in my kitchen. I buy in bulk and keep them in my freezer. My favorite use for this versatile item is turkey burgers. It’s fun to experiment with items in my fridge, cupboard, or farm box, aiming for half of the ingredients to be vegetables and whole grains. This creates a complete nutritional meal for my kids that also affords them choice of toppings and condiments. My personal favorite is to enjoy the patty on top of leafy greens with honey mustard dressing. Instead of consuming that full-fat 500 calorie beef burger, opt for one of these juicy turkey burger recipes. Here are a few of the best turkey burger recipes from SparkRecipes members.

can't wait to try out some of these suggestions. I am not much for beef, but just plain ground turkey as a burger is sort of flat, Thanks so much for the suggestions
These sound really good. Ground turkey seems rather like tofu in that you have to season it heavily for flavors to show up much. These recipes sound like they've solved that. Thanks! Report
Turkey burgers are one of my favorites. I had one at an open market in Philadelphia once: chopped mushrooms, scallions, garlic pepper and dried cranberries. some sliced avocado and cucumber under provolone cheese - all wrapped in romaine leaves (no bun)! Have made them this way ever since. Report
I havent yet gotten used to just turkey for the burger,,, I am slowly going with less and less of hamburg with the turkey. At first I did 1/4th of the turkey to 3/4 of the hamburg,, than 50 % of both,, ,now at the 25% of the hamburg to the 75% of the turkey. YES ! Report
Turkey burgers are awesome! While I still get a beef patty sometimes, I'm also fond of poultry. Get some cheese, lettuce, onion, and pickle on there, a fine meal! Report
This are very good recipes to try, some of the famous turkish foods are Simit, a ring-shaped bread covered with sesame seeds, Zeytinyagli Dolma a grape leaves stuffed with rice that has been seasoned with olive oil and herbs. . Lokum and Helva are others. visit www.namasteturkey.com for more. Report
I have never understood this fad. I can buy beef as lean as turkey. And then I don't have to cook it to well-done. I'll stick with my beef. Report
They all sound yummy, however; the bean and the apple recipes are the best in my opinion AND your heart will thank you for them :) Report

The line (at the end) that says "satisfies the pallet" should read "satisfies the palate," unless they really are referring to a wooden shipping platform. :) Report
I add baked parsnip fries to mine on the side!!! Awesome replacement for potato fries. Just spray with olive oil, season as desired, and spread on bake sheet and roast in oven for 45 mins. on 400. Report

Great ideas! I am excited to try the turkey apple burger. Report
I make my turkey burgers with half ground, portabella mushrooms, diced onion and green pepper and an egg to help hold it together. They are so moist and yummy. They are quite delicate so plan on grilling them indoors on your George foreman type grill or just on a frying pan with a tiny bit of olive oil. Report
I ate ground turkey for quite a while and made my chili with it, but it got to tasting bad. Maybe some of these would help me with it if they ever put the ground turkey on sale again. It has been over $4 a pound. Otherwise, maybe I can substitute the 93% lean ground beef which they have been putting on sale recently. Report
I wish I could get my DH to eat ground turkey, he just refuses. Since he does all the grocery shopping, I am happy head at least gets the low fat type of beef! Report
I have made the Greek Turkey Burger in the past, and it is fantastic! Even my kids love them. Even if you normally don't like turkey burgers, give that one a try.
I haven't tried them but just am not so sure I would really like them. I will have to try them because you don't know unless you try something whether you will like them or not. Report
I would love to like turkey burgers, but I don't. I would rather do without than have to eat one. They look yummy. Report
I have been making these for a long while, great wit a bit of garlic Report
@Kylar - ground beef is higher in saturated fats (bad fats) and has lower protein count (good for feeling fuller) than ground turkey. Report
I don't get the love for ground turkey, it's the same fat content and price of 85 beef. Why not just get that? Report
I love turkey burgers. I also make mine with baked French fries. I use a small spud coated in garlic powder, chili powder and some parmesan cheese. Report
