    On a totally different page.....
I've been listening to 'Nutcracker Suite", and preparing for the dance along that comes up next month. I've been swooping and skipping and flitting about when I walk.
I also listen to blues and jazz and folk and, and, and.
If you do the stomp, or raise your knees, or sashay, or skip- I can assure you that you will be working it hard....and giggling.
    Yeah, happy work outs!

I'm a huge rap & hip-hop fan. But, my favorite new song is from Kevin Rudolph called Rock On. No it's not a remake of the '70's song. Now I've gone and dated myself. - 11/14/2008   5:27:56 AM

I have a great mix. My favorite right now is Lenny Kravitz "Love Revolution". Of course, Maroon 5, David Cook are favs too. I also have a lot of Praise music so I can spend time with God while I'm working out! - 11/13/2008   7:59:14 PM

I'm a sucker for some fast, hard core techno that keeps you moving during some crazy cardio. Here are some songs that kick it into gear:

Basshunter - Dota, Botten Ana, Camillia (SP?), Russian Devuchiet (SP?), We are the Waccos

Scooter - pretty much anything by them... apparently one of the guy jumps during his whole show. Now that's cardio!

Daft punk - Faster, harder, stronger live 2007 (I think..), Shiny disco Balls

    Darude - Sandstorm

    Vengaboys - anything really...

Aqua - again anything pretty much!

For some "darker" tunes.. or those who are into metal check out:

Comchrist - WTF is wrong with you?, Blut Royal, Intruder Alert - tons of songs

    VNV Nation - Chrome

Razed in Black - Oh My Goth

Snake River Conspiracy - Love song (blur cover) and the bestest Angry Chick song E-V-E-R Vulcan. Love it... great when you need to blow off some steam.

Anyway those are some of my faves ....

You Dropped a Bomb On Me
    Taking Care of Business
The Bad Touch/Like they Do on the Discovery Channel
    Cha Cha Slide

Play those through two times then add in The Twilight Zone for 'cool down' and I've got 45 minutes of 3.8 - 4.0 walking - or if I want to 'kick it up' to a 6.4 jog/run I've also got:

    Hit the Road, Jack!

I LOVE this topic! I never know what songs to put on my ipod, but this really helps. If I'm due for a good run to blow off some steam, I usually grab my husband's ipod which houses a lot of upbeat/angry music... somehow that cuts my run time in half, it seems! Some of my favorite songs to listen to while working out on MY ipod are: Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer", Ok Go's "Here it Goes Again", and any live version of Dave Matthew's "Jimi Thing" (which are on average 15 minutes long).

Thanks for sharing everyone. - 11/12/2008   12:26:16 PM

I have such a wide range of music on my mp3 player. I, too, am no fan of ipods...have an ancient Sansa with an SD slot so I can put 2 gb disks in and swap them out now and then for a change.

I love jazz, world music, new age, brasilian, a dash of country (Alison Krauss & Mary Chapin Carpenter) and classic rock. Artists who really rev me up include Talking Heads, The Who, Carlos Santana (jazzier, older stuff), George Benson, Al Jarreau, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Bruce Springsteen (Born to RUN! YEAH!), Tom Petty, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, and so, so many more! - 11/12/2008   10:59:10 AM
