Boy, I sure do miss my old Elberta peach tree! Big, warm peaches, right off the tree with the juice dripping down to your elbow. A little bite of heaven to be sure! Report
Guys: if you use canned, RINSE THEM.. that is where most of the sugar is from . I am a certified consultant in nutrition. Plain yogurt works well (like peaches and cream)with peaches and you get some added calcium to boot. A splash of mini chocolate chips over it, will give you an excellent snack. And freezing drained fruit is always a nice snack in the summer! gigi Report
Our dietitian told us to rinse the peaches that come in the can, even the low sugar kind. I just put them in a wire mesh strainer. This comes in handy when you want to each peaches in the winter time. Report

Red wine, slice fresh peaches into it, add some sugar or splenda or such, leave in fridge a couple of hours, eat. I don't drink the wine, but you could, it will be like a light sangria. You can do the same with rose or white, but I prefer the red. French summer peach recipe. Report

My favorite fresh peach recipe: peel, slice, eat. That's the best way to enjoy a fresh peach from the Farmers' Market! My second favorite way is a peach galette that combines peaches and blueberries. And when they finally come in season this year, I'm going to try that method mentioned below, with the feta melted in the center.

In the early eighties most all canned fruit was in heavy syrup. My daughter, age five, was able to read at the time. We requested that she go to the cellar pantry and bring up a can of peaches. She arrived in the kitchen, dramatically out of breath, and exclaimed, "They weren't kidding when they said "heavy" syrup!" Report

We grilled for the 4th and I put a peach on the grill with just a little olive oil (pit removed and sliced in half), it was good! It was the first time I had grilled a peach too. I will be doing that again! Report
