If you have never done a barre routine, you have no way of realizing how intense they are. Barre is such a great way to work on strength in stillness and is excellent core work. Balancing is key, focusing on a point on the floor ahead of you will help if you wobble. Jessica encourages holding on to a chair or a wall for your safety. If you find channeling your inner ballerina is your thing, she has other barre workouts on her YouTube channel. Report
For those who have balance issues, a good alternative is water aerobics. Report
It was intense, but I could do this barre workout. (Gave up on the one with the 3 skinny dancers, & the leader who talked too fast and softly.) Wish Jessica did a better stretch at the end--I'm going to need to stretch a lot more than that! Report
I also have balance issues based in a neurological problem. I've improved quite a bit by strengthening my core and ankles. I tried this and of course I'm not good at it, YET, but I got enough out of it to try again. I use my breakfast barre (haha) for support and when she gets to something I can't do, I just continue with the last thing I could do. Hopefully I'll improve. Great for quick desk breaks. I agree I'd like to track this on my fitness page, could we get a range of calories to go with the minutes. Report
Nope. Not for me. Balance issues would keep me from doing this one. And the closed captioning is off. I'm sure she probably doesn't mention anything about a gopher hole during the workout. Report

loved the standing workout! I did it right in my kitchen and therefore got a workout in without having to go to the basement (and very possibly getting distracted on the way! LOL) to work out! When I do Barre classes, I tend to track the time under bodyweight exercises. Report
Try tracking this workout under "Dancing: fast, ballet, twist."
Remember: everyone burns calories at a different rate. Even if it was on the Fitness Tracker, it might not be accurate to your active metabolic rate.

Another great quick free workout from Jessica Smith! She is so amazing, and i absolutely love Peanut! I've started doing these during my lunch break so i can squeeze in a few extra 15-20 min workouts during the week. But i do agree with another commentor that it would be great if Sparkpeople would have a way to track these recommended videos in the fitness tracker. Report

This was great! Since I gained so much weight, my leg muscles are not strong enough to heave me up if I am on the floor. This will help not only with my weight reduction but keep me from humiliation when I have to retrieve a dog toy from under the couch! Report
