Both Kashi and the dailySpark understand that no one beats the creative smarts of Mother Nature when it comes to designing food – especially when it comes to creating delicious and nutritious breakfast combinations of protein, fiber and whole grains, plus plenty of fruits and vegetables. That said, we want to know what you think about protein (at breakfast, as well as in your overall diet) so that we can further educate people on the options available to them while on their journey to achieving optimal health and a balanced diet. Please take this brief survey and let us know what you’re eating and why!

The survey will run for one week, and then we’ll launch a Kashi giveaway: one grand prize of $100 worth of Kashi products, plus three first-place prizes!

Take the survey here (it is hosted on a third-party site), and next week we’ll have all the details for the giveaway. In the meantime, leave us a comment telling us which products you’d like to win, and what role protein plays in your healthy lifestyle!

The Kashi Heart to Heart cereal and the honey almond flax, trail mix and peanut butter bars are pretty much a staple in our house! - 11/9/2010   11:13:01 AM

I like to eat a handful of the Go Lean Crunch over greek yogurt for a quick breakfast. - 11/8/2010   11:53:01 PM

I love most of the cereals and bars, and so far, all of the crackers. I'd probably stock up on crackers/snacks and bars. - 11/8/2010   9:36:05 PM

I eat Kashi Go-Lean cereal for breakfast every day. With a serving of blueberries, light soy milk, and a multi-vitamin, it keeps me full until lunch time.

I love the TLC bars for lunch, but they add too many carbs and not enough protein for me (since I eat 4 or 5 veggies with dinner). I do better with a Flatout flat bread and tuna wrap for the same calories (140 versus 150). - 11/8/2010   9:29:09 PM

I like the Go Lean Crunch cereal. - 11/8/2010   3:40:26 PM
Kashi cereals are pretty good, but some of them are a bit high in sugar. I tend to avoid their bars - especially those with choclate coatings which tend to include things like fractionated palm kernel oil in them that have no business being there! - 11/8/2010   2:45:30 PM

Love the Kashi dark choc./coconut bars. - 11/7/2010   9:30:28 PM

I usually eat a small bowl of Go Lean Crunch for breakfast with soy milk. An egg is optional, but the cereal is consistent. I do like it, so that makes it easy. - 11/7/2010   2:49:14 PM

Love the hot cereals and the bars. I will sometimes take a serving of Heart to Heart to school as a snack. - 11/7/2010   2:36:13 PM
I love the concept of Kashi, but just don't like it. I have tried 2 or 3 products but they are dry and tasteless and not low calorie or low fat. I use other options.
    Sorry - 11/7/2010   1:36:32 PM

I love the Go Lean crunch but for some reason it upsets my stomach. I think I may have a sensitivity to one of the grains. - 11/7/2010   8:29:53 AM

I haven't tried all the Kashi products. The ones I have tried, I really like. My two favorite are Kashi Go Lean Crunch Berry and TLC pumpkin spice flax bars. I just finished my last bar and must go shoping tomorrow. I heart whole grains too!

I try to get my protein in everyday. I am finding I stay fuller longer, so I make it a point in having protein at every meal, particularly breakfast. I have dairy products at most meals, and some snacks.

During the week I trade off having whole grains, nuts, fish, and chicken. I do have grilled kidney beans every day, and I plan on adding in black beans too.

Protein definitely keeps me filing full, and I believe it is also important in cellular repair in our body. - 11/7/2010   4:27:37 AM

I've heard the protein in the morning with a good carb = staying full longer. Basically prepping for a day of good choices. I like to have eggs, or cereal, or oatmeal with some peanut butter as the "sweetener". I don't eat a lot of meat, typically.. more so the beans and legumes.
I would like to win the Kashi cereal, or oatmeal, though it would be interesting to try the pizza. I am not a fan of the snack bars - 11/7/2010   3:11:03 AM

    I don't think I found a Kashi product that I don't like (as long as it's vegetarian). Everything I've tasted has been good. - 11/6/2010   1:51:16 PM

Protein has healing properties, or so is my belief. I know whenever I've been injured, I crave protein much more than normal. So, having high quantities of protein for breakfast and lunch really helps repair those muscle tissues you 'tore' while lifting during the previous night's strength training session. Not to mention, I read somewhere, that your higher protein intake should be earlier in the day (meals before dinner, especially breakfast) because it helps fire-up your metabolism for the day. And, what could be better than a fired-up metabolism first thing in the day? - 11/6/2010   10:06:15 AM

I love all of the Kashi products. I have had their cereal and bars. I have not had any items that I have not enjoyed. They taste good and are good for you. I also think that being healthy items they have good prices/sales often and coupons. - 11/5/2010   10:39:16 PM

Love everything Kashi I've tried. I love the new berry cereal, and the Go Lean Crunch (the regular "Go Lean" goes in my yogurt very well. The survey really made me think, too. - 11/5/2010   10:38:44 PM

I really like Kashi Cereals and Snack TLC bars. Cranberry Walnut are very yummy! I have recently started trying the crackers and they are also tasty and typically contain less sodium. - 11/5/2010   4:54:34 PM

I like the Kashi products that are vegan (no honey). They tend to put honey in a lot of them, sadly. However, I like the Nuggets (like vegan Grapenuts!) and the Island Vanilla biscuit thingies. My pet rats even get the unsweetened puffed 7 grain cereal in the grain mix that supplements their kibble. ;) - 11/5/2010   4:31:37 PM

I like the cereal when I am in a hurry and don't have time to make an omelet, or as an evening snack. I might try the bars. - 11/5/2010   2:50:11 PM

I would like a lifetime supply of Go Lean Crunch, and the crunchy cereal bars (Pumpkin Spice! Toasted Almond!) delivered to me here in Germany, please!!! :)

If I don't win, I'd still love it if Kashi would somehow start selling their products here. - 11/5/2010   2:49:44 PM

Since I began following Wolcott/Mercola's nutritional typing plan, which told me I am a Protein type, I have had the best blood panel (including A1C and lipids) in my life, have lost over 10 lbs in the past 2 months without really trying and I have good digestion, which before was a disaster. I generally avoid sugar, grains and legumes like soy, eat low carb and high protein (~40% protein, 30% fats and 30% carbs). A healthy amount of saturated fats like real butter, eggs, and animal fats are absolutely ok and agree with me with no ill effects. My entire lipid panel was the optimal range. Also, VERY importantly, my blood sugar is now under control without any diabetes medication, simply by getting regular exercise, eating low-carb and not snacking in the evenings. - 11/5/2010   2:39:18 PM

I try as much as I can to make myself eat breakfast. Sometimes I just get so busy that I forget. But when I do I eat "7 whole grain huney puffs" from Kashi. And I add ground flax seed, and sometimes a banana, and/or chopped walnuts. - 11/5/2010   2:01:50 PM

Fun and informative survey! I've learned from Spark to include some protein at every meal and snack, and it seems to reduce any sugar spikes and balance out my overall nutrients for the day. The challenge is to get the protein without the negatives that sometimes come along with it; for example, saturated fats in some animal products.

I love the Kashi GoLean cereal, not so much the others, and some of the Kashi cereal bars. I haven't tried any other products, but I'd be interested in a variety of the products, to check them out. - 11/5/2010   7:40:09 AM

I really like their cereals... I eat them as much as I can - they keep me pretty full! I haven't tried much of their other stuff, but I may get their granola bars. - 11/4/2010   10:28:59 PM

I may not know a lot about protein but I know how good Kashi is. In the winter I like to pop a bowl of Kashi and milk into the microwave for about a minute to have a nice warm breakfast. - 11/4/2010   10:24:09 PM
    great ideas - 11/4/2010   10:00:39 PM
I love their kashi rolls, especially when i'm on the run. they are the best. i eat their cereal every day. i mix a few different kinds and pour it on my greek yogurt - delish! - 11/4/2010   8:40:24 PM

I like Kashi cereal - but some of them contain Soy so I have to do a lot of reading before buying.

Taste is awesome though! - 11/4/2010   8:11:26 PM

I used to eat Kashi cereals for breakfast, but I'm trying to eliminate some processed foods from my diet, and I'm not working right now, so it's easier and cheaper to make something hot for breakfast at this point. I'm also not sure if I trust that really processed soy in their GoLean products (I have PCOS and estrogen issues as it is). My hubby likes their stuff, though! - 11/4/2010   7:56:18 PM

I love Kashi Go Lean Crunch, and I in the past have loved some of the bars... but I don't buy them now. Too yummy! But I am currently loving Honey Sunshine, and Strawberry Fields! Umm. I don't eat alot of the other things beaucse of the calories and have lots of sweetners. I know these are natural sweetners but I think some of these would be good with out all the sweetstuff. - 11/4/2010   7:11:45 PM

My favorite Kashi products are the TLC Oatmeal Dark Chocolate cookies and Dark Chocolate Coconut bars. I also like their GoLean Crisp Toasted Berry Crumble cereal. I eat it dry as a snack or with greek yogurt. I miss Kashi's waffles and their Raspberry Chocolate bars. - 11/4/2010   7:03:04 PM

I enjoy a variety of Kashi products - but if I had to choose - I think the frozen meals is what I'd like to win. I like the Go Lean Crunch - but sadly it doesn't like me. - 11/4/2010   6:47:30 PM

If I could live on Kashi Go-Lean Original, I would. As it is, I eat a serving every single day!!! All of their chewy granola bars are delicious too, but now that I'm trying to increase my protein intake and limit my carbs a little, they're not on the menu lately. I also loooove their frozen meals, but they're a little pricey for me, so if I could win a year's supply of those, I'd be PSYCHED. - 11/4/2010   6:14:56 PM

    I love their cereals! - 11/4/2010   5:38:18 PM

I love the Kashi Heart to Heart cereal! It's completely spoiled me for Cheerios, which used to be one of my favorites (I usually prefer the oatbran cereals) - the Heart to Heart is much heartier and crunchier, and stands up to milk or yogurt better than Cheerios. My favorite weekday breakfast is a container of low-fat yogurt with about 1/2 cup Heart to Heart mixed in -- it's a great grab-and-go breakfast that I can eat at my desk as I'm reading my email at the beginning of my work day. Yum! - 11/4/2010   5:32:36 PM

I love Kashi go lean cerial variety. I believe those are the ones with the high protien and fiber. I add to that soy milk and I've got a satisfying breakfast that keeps me going pretty well. I haven't really tried much of the other Kashi products. I also look for coupons for affordability but I haven't found another cerial that has as high protien/fiber. - 11/4/2010   5:20:20 PM

I eat Kashi go lean everyday!! I love it hot with blueberries or a cut up apple in it!! TOO GOOD!!! - 11/4/2010   5:17:03 PM

LOVE Kashi - Go Lean Crunch cereal, bars and the Go Lean rolls, haven't really ever had anything by them I din't like. Only have been able to find their entrees one time and the are a bit high priced...out of my regular budget, but DELICIOUS none the less. - 11/4/2010   5:00:54 PM
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Kashi Go Lean Honey & Cinnamon Hot Cereal. It is the ONLY "instant" oatmeal that keeps me full until my mid-morning snack. Other cereals that don't have that protein leave me hungry and hour after eating it.

I switch from day to day between that oatmeal and an egg sandwich on whole wheat bread. I try not to have eggs everyday (only 2-3 times a week). Every great once in a while I'll make a parfait for breakfast using plain greek yogurt, agave nectar, berries of some sort and topped with 1/4 C of Kashi Go Lean Crunch.

    I LOVE BREAKFAST!!!! - 11/4/2010   4:43:38 PM
