Your Easy Kickboxing Workout

Kick Off the Calories

Blast fat (and stress!) with this easy kickboxing workout, created by TaeBo founder and fitness expert Billy Blanks.


Billy says: This warm-up also trims your waist and tones your arms and legs.

A) Stand with your left leg about a foot in front of you with both knees slightly bent. Bend your elbows so that your fists are just below your chin.
B) Punch your right arm straight out as you shift your weight to your back leg. Come back to starting position. Do 3 sets of 8 reps, then switch sides.


Billy says: Even though this move focuses on your upper body, it also gives your legs a great workout.

A) Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees and elbows bent, hands in a fist below your chin.
B) Turn your torso slightly as you punch your arm in a hooking motion so it's parallel to the floor. Come back to start and repeat. Do a total of 3 sets of 8 reps on each side.

Body Twist

Billy says: This move helps you improve your balance and strengthens your core.

A) Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees and elbows bent, hands in a fist below your chin.
B) Lean forward slightly, bringing left shoulder forward. Then bring right shoulder forward. Keep alternating quickly and do 3 sets of 8 reps (a twist to the left and right counts as one rep).

    i am a HUGE fan of both taebo and turbo jam. in fact, i will be attending my first turbo jam camp this july (aka camp do more). finally, after doing turbo for over 7 years, i will get to work out live with some of my favorite trainers. can't wait! Report

    I do Billy Blank's Taebo and Beach Body's Turbo Jam with Charlene. If I have to exercise to loose weight, I want to do exercises that yield the most calorie burn. Kickboxing burns more calories in a shorter period of time than other cardio does. Turbo Jam's bonus is that you have dance music in the background which makes it more like fun than a workout. Report

    I LOVE kickboxing. I love doing the one that Coach Nicole has and I used to really love the TaeBo workouts too. I think I have to revisit some of them. Report
    So I don't know anything about these workouts, but we have a 100 lb heavy bag hanging in our garage and that's a great workout. go 3 five minute rounds with that and you're completely gassed. Great fun workout that gets the adrenaline pumping as well. Report

    I like to do kickboxing workouts with Jill Coleman on my cable tv. They have all sorts of exercise workouts on demand. It is a wonderful way to switch things up and keep things interesting! Report

    I love Taebo DVDs (all), the most interesting workout is UPPER CUT Report
    I have his Boot Camp dvd. It is too hard for me to use the bands, but even without them it is quite a good cardio workout! Report
    Coach Nicole has a good, short cardio kickboxing video right here on SP. I also like Leslie Sansone's Walk and Kick - not strenuous enough for me these days, but a good intro to the moves. Report
