The Best Inner Thigh Exercises Ever

By , Jessica Smith, Certified Personal Trainer
As a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor, people often ask me how to tone up their inner thighs. While certain leg-lift-style moves do target the inner thigh muscles, it is not possible to spot-reduce fat from your inner thighs--no matter how many leg-lifts you do! If you're exercising consistently and eating a healthy diet, your body will tend to lose fat all over, not just in one certain area. However, by following a well-rounded workout plan (that includes total body strength training, cardio and flexibility work) along with a healthy diet, you will gradually help reduce the amount of fat located in the inner thigh region as your total body fat percentage drops.

This video includes moves that work multiple muscles at once through large ranges of motion to help you burn more calories while you strengthen the inner thighs. Since these moves incorporate so many muscle groups, you'll burn more fat in less time!
One more note: Don't forget that our bodies are designed to carry a little bit of fat in the inner thigh area, so please don't obsess over producing an "inner thigh gap"! Some bodies were genetically created with a natural thigh gap, but for most of us, strong thighs that may "touch" but help us squat, lunge, walk, skate and skip are healthy!
Leave me a comment below and let me know if you tried the workout! What was your favorite (or least favorite!) move?

Good to know.. women are always told that the ideal is to have “that thigh gap”.. Even when I was lean I didn’t have that. This makes me feel better. Report

Great! Thank you. Report

Great workout! Report
Great info and needed too. Report
Thanks for the article and video Report
The movement is fine for me, but the mono-chrome of the room is annoying and distracting. I thought it a bit funny that half way through the routine she says: Remember you cannot spot treat the inner thigh. The article was called: Inner Thigh Burner. Report
Nice! Thank you! Report
I think I can do this Report
The exercises seem simple, but my previous knee injury limits this from being as effective as it could be gorgeous me..Thanks for sharing. Report
like so many of the other comments, the videos do not give alternatives for those who have impairments like after total knees that can't do that type of extreme movement and never will be able to do that type of movement. Report
This exercise looks like fun and I wish I could do it. Like a couple of other posters I have serious balance issues and neuropathies (alternating pain and numbness) in my feet. Doing anything where I jump around would be dangerous at best. Very disappointing as my nickname was "Little Thunder thighs." My thighs are where I carry most of my weight. Report
Really enjoyed this short workout today! Thank you Jessica & SP! Report
I love this! I cannot do this right now because a foot injury, but as soon as it heals (maybe three months), I would love to try it! Report

I cannot do squats or anything similar to them because of my knees Report
This looks very easy and convenient. I will be trying this today! Report
My problem with these exercises is that many require good balance and I don't have that. Report
This is one I come back to regularly. I love it! Report
Dear SparkTeam, why do you offer Jessica Smith's great workouts but no way to track them on SparkPeople?? I've been missing that for a long time... Report
I agree with many of the comments that this workout isn't designed for those of us with knee issues. I tried the moves without lunging very deeply. Report
To those with bad knees, I am 67 and have bad knees as well, however, I find rolling my itband on a foam roller does wonders for my knees. I can do deep squats and lunges that I was not able to do before. I cannot go as deep on these moves but am able to do them to my own ability and hope to get better. Report
Several of these exercises are too much for my knees. I cannot do jumping jacks or anything like them, jumping is totally out, and no lunges of any type. I do enjoy your workouts though and workout with them on U-tube often. Report
Love the curtsy lunges. I have a twerky knee and if I watch my ROM, these moves work for me. She moves at a safe speed--- not too fast. Report
This workout is much too dangerous for anyone with bad knees. Report
Thank you Jessica for another great workout! Report
Wow I just found this ... Jessica Smith videos are wonderful ... will try this one later today! Thank you Jessica.

Cindy, I'm with ya! Congrats on the 10 down on WW. I started the Dr. Oz Total 10 Friday ... have been having some rough symptoms, but trying to stick with it. I'm down a couple #'s, but I go up & down by a few regularly ... too early to tell. Hubby started yesterday ... well see! Report
Loved this video. I missed my normal workout today, and this was a great way to get my heart pumping. Saving this one to do again! Report
looks like something I will try just looking at different leg exersizes Report
I always love the articles on your website! They are informative and useful. These exercises you have mentioned are quite nice , video explains it all. I want to suggest users that there are many easy exercises at home that are more effective then the tiring work schedule of gym. Weightloss5ws Report
I love Jessica Smith! How awesome is the variety and quality of videos she provides free of charge?! Great option for people who can't make it to or afford a gym or studio membership.
The email described this as "Strengthen your inner thighs and burn major calories with this 10-minute power routine." No way you're burning "major calories" in any 10-minute period, no matter what you're doing. Unless, of course, your definition of "major calories" is 30-40. Report
I really like this workout. The curtsy even gets the glutes! Happy to see Peanut move - I thought she was stuffed! Report
Great workout. Can't wait to incorporate this routine into my workouts. Report
I love her! And the workout! Ditto about the lunges, working on it. How do we track this on SparkPeople? Report
I have 4 DVDs from Jessica, and they're great. But PEANUT! Report
