I also generally skip the bun. I have found, however, that if I want a bun, I choose to use the "thins" that are so readily available now. I load my burger with lots of fresh veggies too.

A restaurant around here has been marketing a fiesta veggie burger - a boca patty with refried beans and salsa (and I think a dollop of sour cream) on top. It sounded gross at first, but the more I think about it the more I think I need to make one of my own!

My favorite: thick slice of vidalia onion, thick slice of fresh a large red ripe tomato, and just a small dollop of mayo made with olive oil. YUM!

Oh, and I've introduced myself to red onions this year! I LOVE them. They taste way different from yellow.

I'm always looking for new ideas to put a spin on meals or food so its not monotonous or boring. These are some great ideas that I will add not only on turkey burgers but will try with tuna, chicken breast, wraps, pita sandwiches, etc. Some I've already had on menu; thanks for the ideas.

Those complaining; do your own research and its about eating in moderation!!

My eating plan includes all foods in moderation. I don't go out of my way to eat fries but if I wanted some for a special treat I would not hesitate to add them to my food tracker. And in general I don't eat bread anymore (of any sort, whole wheat or or otherwise) but I don't hold it against anyone if they decide to eat a white bun. Folks need to remember that SparkPeople is about small steps, individuality and moderation. Not everyone is going to be fanatical about this stuff.

After reading the comments I reviewed the pictures. The first time through I didn't see the fries. Guess I just looked at the recipes and incorporating my own substitutes (home raised beef lean as can be, homegrown veggies, no ketchup if I don't like it)!
Thanks for the ideas!!
