I found Spark through Shauna, and she is an amazing motivator. Sure she could have done it faster, but more importantly she did it the right way and has kept it off.

PS she isn't getting rich off the book... I read somewhere she's made less than £3,000 (so about US$4,500) - 1/28/2009   6:04:46 PM

Glad Shauna Reid was smart enough to keep a blog, journal and keep track of anecdotes to write a book about her long journey which inspired others in the process and is still doing so judging by the responses here, and become famous, earning big bucks!! More power to Shauna Reid!!

    Love smart women!! - 1/28/2009   10:51:59 AM

How sad that it took 5 1/2 years to get there. Being a SPARKER she could have been there much sooner and rid of the burden of all those pounds. Just check out our SPARKPAGES SUCCESS STORIES. - 1/28/2009   4:04:06 AM

An inspiring story, to be sure. But with one HUGE piece of wisdom that makes all the difference. The SparkPeople folks ought to make a big banner out of this one and put it up all over the site:

"I started enjoying the journey -- not just waiting until I got to the goal to be happy about it."

The journey IS the reward: that's a truth that can make all the difference between success and failure. - 1/26/2009   9:58:42 PM

I am trying to get the book in my local library so many can enjoy reading it. Shauna is a great inspiration and has such a wonderful generous spirit. I also was most touched by her statement, "Enjoy the process and live in the moment. Don't wait until we reach our destination. It could be too late then. Live in the now." Here! Here!! Go Dietgirl Go - 1/26/2009   9:47:50 PM
