Learn the Fitness Class Lingo

These Classes are Safe for Pregnancy and New Moms


Before joining a prenatal fitness class, take time to ask a few questions about the class format and instructor. The following questions can help you find the class that meets your needs:
  • Does the class require a physician's release before allowing you to exercise?
  • Does the instructor have a health-related degree and/or appropriate certification to teach a prenatal exercise class?
  • How well supervised is the class?
  • What is the class content? Is there a cardiovascular, strength and flexibility components included in each session?
  • How much does the class cost?
  • How does the instructor monitor the students' intensity levels during each session?
  • Are emergency procedures in place?
You can search for prenatal fitness classes in your community by contacting local YMCAs, fitness centers and birthing centers, or even searching online.


Don't be afraid to try something different! There are a wide variety of classes out there to cater to your needs. You could end up finding an enjoyable activity that helps you reach your goals at the same time!
