Spark Spotlight: Michelle (SHELLEYMCELROY6)

By , SparkPeople Blogger
At SparkPeople, we love helping people accomplish big goals—but we believe it's equally important to celebrate the small successes along the way. Each week in the Spark Spotlight, we'll check in with a featured member about his or her proudest moments, biggest challenges and advice for others on living, thinking and feeling healthier. We hope these quick snapshots will help motivate you to keep moving steadily toward your own goals, week by week.

Michelle's Small Success of the Week

Discovering a newfound love of exercise!

What's your overall goal?

To lose 100 pounds and keep it off with lifestyle changes in my meal plans and exercise.

How is SparkPeople helping you get there?

I get to track my meal plans and be social with like-minded people who exercise and encourage and support each other. There are even challenges that really motivate and get me going in the right direction.

What's your biggest challenge right now?

Patience. Remembering it didn't get this way overnight. I can't rush it, I've done that SO many times in the past and gained it back plus some. I've got to do it right this time and be patient.

What advice do you have for someone who just joined SparkPeople?

Read the articles and join the community and do the challenges. But ultimately, it has to be you making the food choices and being honest with yourself. Don't rush it! Stay within calorie range and make exercise so much fun that you'll actually want to do it.

I'm a former exercise avoider who has been converted too. It really has a positive effect on me in so many ways. Report
I have been exercising consistently for the first time in years and I discovered that it really does make me feel better! Now, when I wake up tired and grouchy, I know that instead of staying in bed and letting the negativity set in, forcing myself to get up and moving has the power to turn my mood and my day around! It is simply amazing how well it works. Congratulations to you! Report
So great! Report

I, too, have found a love for exercise, and I love it!!! Report
Woohoo as one who has lost 115 lbs I can agree: its HARD, slow work!! But with hard work come mes FREEDOM to move around sooooooooo much easier!! To live life again,,or for the time being with people you enjoy in the activities regular people do!! Gives us the CHOICE to explore places, things we never thought we could. Ahhh dreams become reality. Youre doing well!!! Congrats!!! Report
