Here are my top 3 secrets to success:
- Be consistent. I tried to remain within my calorie range and get in exercise as consistently as possible. I even found ways to be active while on vacation since joining SparkPeople.com. This goes hand in hand with what I called accountability.
- Be accountable. I used the tools on SparkPeople—the trackers and the SparkTeams—to record my efforts. I kept myself accountable by honestly and accurately tracking my food and fitness, which motivated me to strive to reach those goals each day. I joined several SparkTeams and met several SparkFriends who I knew would want to hear about my progress. Knowing that I had to report to them helped me focus on achieving the goals I set out to accomplish.
- Never stop learning about healthy living. I learned so much by reading the SparkPeople articles; that gave me the power I needed to understand WHY I was making different choices now and WHY those choices were better for me in the long run.
