Why Do We Use Ads on SparkPeople?

It seems like every day there's a new kid on the health and fitness block. Thanks to the newfound allure of staying fit and eating healthy (yay!), new companies promising great health products, fitness strategies or weight-loss tools emerge regularly, some with incredible promise and others just trying to capitalize on the public's renewed interest. This flurry of fresh potential can make it difficult to determine which companies have staying power and which will fizzle out. 
As you may have seen, we've recently kicked off an advertising partnership with Jenny Craig, one of the aforementioned companies with serious staying power, having more than 30 years in the business of helping men and women make their weight-loss dreams a reality. 
But why Jenny Craig? As an overview about advertising in general, we are thankful for companies like Jenny Craig that choose to work with SparkPeople. A company like SparkPeople is extraordinarily hard to manage because we have fairly high expenses to cover in order to keep our site and apps from closing down. This includes all of the tech expenses to improve upon and keep our site and apps running. These expenses also include salaries for our small team of people (and their families) who work incredibly hard to continue improving SparkPeople to help more members from around the world reach their goals.
We try hard to partner with advertising companies that have good values. For example, one thing we really like about Jenny Craig is that many of their health coaches are former clients who achieved success with the Jenny Craig program and felt compelled to help others reach their goals. Furthermore, according to our dietitians and other experts, meal replacement programs can work very well for many people to help them lose weight. Reasons for this include simplifying choices to reach your calorie and weight-loss goals, plus added help from trained coaches.
If it wasn't for brand partners like Jenny Craig, we wouldn't be able to do what we do to help the millions of people who visit SparkPeople each month. Branding partners like Jenny Craig allow us to do what we do best, which is helping the millions of people who visit SparkPeople each month stay informed, motivated and driven to achieve their goals. 
I see the results of this every day when people say that SparkPeople has changed their life. This motivates me and our team to keep working hard to help you and many others.
We do have big plans for 2018 to continue adding new features and programs that help us with our mission to spark millions of people to reach their goals using health and fitness as a springboard to reach goals in all areas of life!
