Healthy Inspiration from SparkPeople

Motivational Quote - All problems become smaller if you don’t dodge them, but confront them. Touch a thistle timidly, and it pricks you; grasp it boldly and its spines crumble.

SparkPeople's Comments

Your worst fears are usually the ones that never happen. Unfortunately, they’re also the ones that keep you from trusting yourself and your abilities. Doesn’t it seem silly to give up in the face of something that may be no more real than the fairy tale troll that lives under the bridge? If you approach a possible roadblock with hesitation, it might resist and break your resolve. But if you step forward with confidence, you can climb that wall, even one inch at a time, and pull yourself over the top. Confidence is what it’s all about. Facing problems builds it, and lets you know that you can take on anything that comes along. The unknown monster under the bed is always scarier than the dust bunny reality.

I like this quote. Believe in yourself. Take the bull by the horns-so to speak.

Great quote.
We must always remember this when facing a problem.

This is timely for me. I dreaded an issue with the boss, and when I faced the problem, it was resolved in ideal fashion. Turned out to be no problem, and my dread was for no reason. What a relief! If I had not "faced it"--- I could have prolonged that awful feeling of dread. Good quote here!

I love this quote. I always tell my kids you can complain about the rain for a few seconds, but after that it just time to get an umbrella and deal. We all get lost trying to avoid problems, or over analyze them. At some point we just gotta look at our problems and deal.

Confidence is what it’s all about.
Have picked many thistles in my lifetime and got pricked often
Needed to build up my confidence I guess
One day at a time

This reminds me of "taking the bulls by the horn" saying. If you try avoidance it will come around again and again, until you resolve it. Best to get it out of the way, done and over with. Donna
