Busy work is a way to hold off guilt or avoid what we fear. Fear of failing. Fear of looking foolish. Fear of not knowing what to do or how to do it. Any one of these could be the culprit. The important point is that the time you are spending on the minor routine tasks will not make a difference in the end. These time-chewers are not what experiences are made of. So put your hands to work doing things that are meaningful and stop wasting your time on keeping them busy. The most valuable asset you have is your time. What does it say about how you value that asset when you spend that time on busy work? Stop putting things off and start putting effort toward what needs to be done. Do what will make you grow and can make a difference in someone’s life. Make it count!
