SparkPeople was created in 2001 as a comprehensive healthy lifestyle solution, designed to help people get motivated to set, track and reach a variety of health, nutrition and fitness goals. While anyone can use our site as much or as little as they'd like (depending on time available, individual goals and interests), most people come to SparkPeople to use our detailed food/calorie tracker, fitness tracker and supportive community features. While the majority of SparkPeople members have weight-loss or weight-management goals, a desire to lose weight is not necessary in order to take advantage of our programs. SparkAmerica was created by SparkPeople in 2013 as a "light" version of the SparkPeople program, designed to help people track basic health and fitness goals and get involved in friendly leaderboard competitions for individuals and teams. It features a "60-second daily check-in" and many of the key SparkPeople elements, with the exception of food tracking and detailed community involvement. SparkAmerica is the ideal program for a casual user—someone who might not need everything that SparkPeople has to offer but still wants to use a fun program to stay motivated and keep goals top of mind. You can switch from SparkPeople to SparkAmerica (and vice-versa) at any time after creating a SparkPeople account. No matter which program you choose, you can still access every feature on SparkPeople.com. The big difference is on the "program" (called Start) page you see each time you visit the site. |
