When it comes to your life and what you stand for, there can only be one designer – you. Sure, consulting with others and learning as much as you can from their character and mistakes is valuable. But when outside opinions start to sneak their way into your value system, it can warp into something you never wanted. Sometimes you might not even notice it happening. Stand your own ground and work hard to make up your own mind. Take a few moments each day or each week to think about how you’re spending your time, and see if you can spot some ‘committee’ decisions in there. If you’re not happy with the horse you’re running, feed it, heal it, train it. But don’t let anyone convince you to create the camel that they would rather see.
