SparkPeople, Inc., one of America’s largest weight-loss and healthy living community and digital platforms is looking for a strategic, passionate, sales-focused Director to join our Brand Partnerships team. The founder, CTO and COO built eBay’s largest competitor and first acquisition prior to launching SparkPeople. The CRO brings experience from Time, Inc. and has brought on current partnerships with Atkins, the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos. The ideal candidate is a fervent hustler with senior connections to brands, business organizations and agencies within the evolving digital media community.  

The role will focus on driving new revenue through diversification and emerging opportunities by focusing on partnerships with the world’s biggest brands. A strong background in media planning and account management is necessary. The position can be based in Cincinnati, Boston, Greater NYC, Chicago or San Francisco.
 

Key responsibilities include: 
 

  • Working closely with the Chief Revenue Officer and National Sales Team to expedite mission-focused brand and product outreach and develop creative marketing and media proposals that leverage all of SparkPeople’s assets while also managing a list of accounts and delivering on individual sales goals.
  • Living and breathing the SparkPeople brand and creating unique partnerships in the media and marketing community with ability to "think on your feet" and develop best-in-class branded deals across all native platforms.
  • Mining and initiating partnerships with enterprise businesses to bring SparkPeople technology and engagement to a broader audience and new platforms.
  • Managing the full-deal lifecycle, from initial outreach and creative prospecting to proposal development and media planning/pricing, contract and deal negotiation and closing large-scale, multi-platform branded partnerships.
  • Working closely with Revenue Operations and Project Management to implement deals and focus on account management responsibilities and client success.
  • Establishing and growing relationships with past, present and future partners (brands and agencies) through excellent customer service and innovative campaign executions.
  • An ability to quarterback multiple, detailed projects with ease and partner effectively with cross-functional teams including creative strategy, data, operations and account management.
  • A holistic, proactive and creative thinker that has a vision for new ways to partner SparkPeople assets and campaigns with blue chip brands.
  • Building, maintaining and developing knowledge to become an expert on social media, research and measurement, content marketing, mobile and digital viral videos.
 

The ideal candidate will possess:

 
  • 7-10 years of sales experience in digital or social as well as custom-branded content.
  • A dynamic network of brand-direct relationships and key agency decision makers you will call on day one.
  • The mentality of a pure, relentless hustler and creative thinker with a positive attitude and a supportive management style who inspires people to work hard and achieve success. 
  • Confidence in prospecting new clients, generating leads and closing complex and creative seven-figure deals.
  • Proven success by masterfully negotiating, closing and executing complex, customized marketing/advertising solutions in content marketing, custom branded content and digital/social media.
  • An extroverted personality with strong communication/presentation skills, high energy, a competitive spirit and a positive attitude.
  • Passion about SparkPeople’s mission, our content and brand mission.
  • Hunger to prove yourself in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience in Excel, Powerpoint and other syndicated research tools.
