Proverbs 3:5, 6 "Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of him, and he will make your paths straight."
"do not rely on your own understanding". I realize this is referring to our Creator, that we need to look to him for direction.
When it comes to weight loss I realize I can't depend entirely on myself. Weight loss is more than counting calories, carbohydrates, fats, sugars and other such things. It's more than exercising so many minutes a week. Losing weight and keeping it off is complex and therefore I need guidance and support from those who have been there, done that and are well educated on the subject. There are many such ones on this website, both professional and unprofessional. Both groups are necessary and can provide much insight and encouragement. Both have experience and therefore can provide needed direction. That gives me the confidence that I need to be successful on my weight loss journey. Having that guidance and support helps keep my motivation in focus.
Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way; a general desire or willingness of someone to do something. Being aware of what motivates me personally will definitely aid me in being successful in my journey.
There are many facets to weight loss and we need to be aware of the ones that affect our weight loss journey. One of those facets is attitude. Attitude can mean the difference between success and failure.
Priorities is another facet. While we are concerned about the welfare of others and often put there needs first we need to recognize that there is absolutely nothing wrong in taking care of ourselves and that sometimes we need to take care of ourselves first in order to be successful in our weight loss journey.
