Secrets of Success

Plan Those Weekly Meals Before You Grocery Shop

My husband and I do our weekly meal planning before we go to the grocery store. This gives us 2 advantages.

1. We don't have to ask the dreaded question: "What are we going to have for dinner tonight?"

2. By sticking to the list, we only buy what we need, which saves money too.

More Information:

We have a dry erase board on our refrigerator where we list all of our shared meals for the week, including weekends. (You can pick one up from an office supply store.)

  • That's a great idea. I have tried to do this in the past, but it only lasted one week. I'm going to make this a new goal to try to plan the week's menu every Sunday. - by GINGINB

We also use the grocery list/meal planner as a way to getthe girls involved in cooking. They get to choose one meal a week - whatever they want - and then come up with what we need to make it! - by JEANNE069
  • I like the dry erase board idea. I also like the idea of not buying extras, which probably won't get used that week anyway. - by SUPPORTHARMONY
I've been doing this for years and it saves so much time and money and hassle!! My husband and I believe that sitting down for dinner is important even with just two of us and this makes sure we don't skip that commitment and eat right for at least one meal a day. - by CRYSTALLULLABY
That is what helps me - by LADYBELL
