Secrets of Success

Retrain My Brain

For years as a child my parents told me think of the children who are starving. So cleaning the plate by eating all the food was ingrained into my brain.
Now I am retraining my brain by taking the food to the trash if my body says enough,
No more pushing myself to eat it all ;^)

  • I was also a member of the clean plate club growing up and look where that got me. The only thing I insist from my family, that they at least eat some of the veggies on their plate. emoticon emoticon emoticon - by SUSANNE61

  • My parents used to do the same thing to me. I was always bigger than my brother and sister, and if they couldn't finish their food, no problem they would "guilt trip" me into eating it with the same starving people thing. Now I just serve myself 1/2 portions instead of piling it up, and if I want more I get it. . . in small protions of course. I never find myself wanting more than seconds because I am so aware of how many times I have gone back for more. If there is anything left, I package it into freezer containers and freeze it. Handy go to meals when there is no time to cook, and nothing went "to waste". emoticon - by SHERRY822
