Secrets of Success

Hunger Free Write

I always want to snack at work. Vending, snack shack, whatever. But I've found that if I sit for even 3 minutes and just write whatever comes to mind, never stopping, I get over the "hunger" for snacking faster.

More Information:

Free writing is just that. Write about anything. Describe what you see in front of you, record your thoughts about the day, anything. The key is to not stop writing for 3-10 solid minutes. Then go back and read what you wrote, you might be surprised!

It totally works! Sometimes I journal about how hungry I think I am and other times my entry might be: "Ok, so it's 9:51...I have to work for 6 more hours and 39 more minutes. Ugh. Why do I have a fan at my desk if I never use it? What's the point? I don't have any water, I should refill my bottle."

The more random the thoughts go sometimes the more you learn about yourself or the more you get into it and away from thinking about food.

The key is to not stop writing. Make it one HUGE run-on sentence if you have to but never stop moving the pen until your predetermined amount of time is up! (If you're at work please keep this to about 3 minutes as I don't want to get in trouble for you not working! Don't tell your boss you weren't working because Annie told you to free write! :) - by ANNIE130
