Secrets of Success

Secret Stash

I put a small, set amount from each check in a seprate savings account before I even do my budget, then forget about it. Increase the amount with each raise! I started out with just the total amount over the nearest all adds up!

More Information:

(ING is a great bank with low overhead & higher interest. Having the account separate from your regular checking helps keep your fingers off it!)

I like to call myself a bill. Just like the light or cable bill that HAS to get paid once a month. Its always good to have a extra stash of money. You never no what can happen these days emoticon - by BELLALEE228
  • When I balance my check book I add money to my "hold for checking account" as if it was a real check not cash. It has grown from a small amount to over $650.00. I update the amount and the date everymonth - by KELLEY106
  • Great idea. People don't realize that emergencies happen - they aren't planned - and having a stash that isn't designated for vacation, new car, etc. helps when these unexpected things happen. You don't have to go into debt or mess up your other bills when an emergency comes up. (and then there are those times you see that perfect pair of shoes!!) - by RETRACMJ
