Secrets of Success

Drink Tap Water

Bottled water is so expensive. The tap water is safe to drink in almost all areas of the country. (Check the government reports on your local water tests). I keep a jug of tap water in the refrigerator so it's always cold and I use lots of ice. I always carry a refillable plastic bottle of ice water whenever I step foot out of the house. Water is included with our rent, so I'm saving "buckets" of money by drinking tap water instead of bottled water.

More Information:

I add a splash of lemon or lime juice for flavor most of the time.

  • Some people are picky over the taste of tap water so we have a brita jug. We buy the filters in bulk so it doesn't cost much and then always have water bottles with us. - by FLOWERBUD22
  • My water was tested 3 months ago and now I won't even cook with it. It had more chlorine in it than you're supposed to put in your pool. It also has fluoride in it, which contrary to what you hear, is terrible for you. Fluoride comes from Florine, please do not drink tap water unless you have it tested, it is not safe. I also had them test my spring water which also had toxic substances in it. My baby's purified water was the only water that tested safe. If you want to save money and be safe, invest in a water softener that takes all of that crap out of the water. - by CHANGINGFACES27
I also read somewhere that if you put your water in the fridge, the coldness of the fridge will kill any of that chlorine taste from the water. It tastes better than straight from the tap. - by RADIANT77
  • In my town, the water tastes like algae in the summer. We use a filter on our faucet and keep a Brita filter jug in our frig. Thus, our drinking water is twice filtered. I drink water from the tap and have no guilt at all over those plastic bottles anymore. emoticon - by CHARLOTTE1947
  • Also, if you set out an open container filled with tap water overnight, the chlorine taste will leave it. i don't know why, but it works. - by KATIZUMI2013
  • I did some research regarding tap water and found that is very safe. I was concerned about the chlorine. I found that water is treated with chlorine as a gas and if you let it set it we be gone and the water is safe to drink., What a savings!!! - by YESWAKKA
