Secrets of Success

Use A Virtual Treadmill App And Listen To Pandora

I found a couple great apps for ipad that show great trails for running or biking or hiking as you work on the treadmill or stationary bike. And while I'm "running on the trail" I can listen to all my favorite music on Pandora. I want to get in my exercise!

  • Hi there.

I tripped across this thread while searching for "Pandora" on Spark. I am a power Pandora user and have been for years. I have dozens of workout stations programmed on my Pandora, which is open and available to anyone.

To be, Pandora presents the best blend of controlling the style of the playlist while allowing for new songs to creep in too.

I have group leadership experience here on Spark. Some people consider me a "Motivator" rightly or wrongly, and I am contemplating starting a Spark Team focused on Pandora workout music. Fundamentally I'm skeptical of Spark Teams, but one focused on shared workout music might have enough "there" there to sustain motivation.

Please let me know if this might be of interest to anyone, and/or whether anyone reading this might like to "follow" me on Pandora. Best wishes for everyone's continued success here on Spark. - by BOSS61
  • Annie BIG THANKS
Virtual Active provides a great interface with the camera on your Ipad so the walk/run mimics what you are doing in real time!
Don't know about the rest of you but the gym music and wheezing from nearby treadmillers was really boring. Much more fun to plug it in with this app and I use
another app called nature scenes that allows you to program nature sounds to your
walk so walking by the lake has lake sounds etc... This really helped and the hour flew by leaving me relaxed AND energized
now if they could just do something about the gym smell emoticon - by BUILDERCHICK
  • Hi! I would be happy to share the information. I have an ipad. I found Virtual Active (by BitGym), Virtual Runner (by Outside Interactive), and MySmooth. All of these apps are free but you have to buy the trails (like most apps.) I found Trees For Cities which is a virtual run through London (by BitGym) for free. I'm sure there are others. I also went to Amazon and saw there were DVD's of virtual runs if your treadmill is by your DVD player. FYI... if you like yoga, I found an app called Simply Yoga which has a great demo, and you can purchase more workouts. Enjoy. - by ANNIEL617
  • I would love to know the names of these apps, if you care to share. Thanks - by ANDI_3K
  • Wow! What a great idea. I went to Google play to look for android apps and searched on virtual treadmill, visual treadmill, and I couldn't seem to find the graphic-based adventure that you're speaking of. Could you name any apps please? Thanks. - by I-CAN-DO-IT-2
