  • the body burns calories converting it to the right temperature. - by SOLIQUAY
  • It's actually only about 17 Kcals per 16oz of water. But if you are drinking the 8 glasses a day recommended, that's about 70 Kcals! - by BELLE2BE
  • I didn't know this either, but it makes sense. Thanks for the info and I will continue to drink my cold water every day. - by ALWAYSME-JAN

Well, if drinking ice water works, I say drink ice water! I think what you refer to is the "calories that are used in raising the ice water to body temperature........
1 cal/pound/degree F. The problem is that the calories we use in diet are not the same as the physicist's calories. A dietary calorie is 1000 of the physicist's calories. Still, it does require some energy to raise temperature, so it helps a bit! But if it works, so be it....keep doing it! - by BANJER54

I'm curious as to why this would be the case. I was always told to avoid ice water because it can increase my appetite. Of course, I don't know why that would be the case either which leaves me with 2 questions.=) - by CLH817
  • is this really true? - by SLIMLILA
  • I drink my 8 glasses of very cold water every day; once in awhile it doesn't happen, but mostly. However, I did not know that it burns calories. Thanks for the update. - by KATHYJO56
