Secrets of Success

Freezer List

Get a dollar store white-board w/magnet & marker to stick to outside of freezer. Keep a list on what you have. How often have you over-bought or thrown out food bc you don't use or know what's in there? This has saved me time and money. Also, mark down when you froze it or for pre-packaged goods, their expiration date, esp. if stuff tends to hang around in your freezer. Works for the frig, too!
I also keep a grocery lister on there, to write down what I use up or need.

  • has paper versions of this for the freezer, pantry and larder. It heps to keep up with what you have and what you need. Instead of having to root through the kitchen to ensure you have everything that you need for the upcoming menu week you can just look through the lists. - by LADYDARYA
  • Great idea, I wonder if the board will stick to it. I hope so otherwise it will get lost for sure,Thanks Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon - by NORASPAT

  • This is a great idea. I always have to dig to the bottom of my freezer to find out what I have in there. I will try this. Thanks again. emoticon - by FLEMIDG
  • I just wish everyone putting things in the freezer at home would mark the packages in some way. Nothing like freezer burned mystery meat. Great suggestion. It would work for the pantry shelves, too. - by SISTERDOE

  • I do the same but I also segregated like foods together in plastic freezer bins. All seafood, meats, cooked grains, breads, ready to eat precooked meals, etc. are grouped together and my white board has the "map" as to which basket they are in and in what order they are stacked in the chest freezer. A little OCD, I know but it works for me! - by MARYELLEN301
  • Great idea. I used to keep a little paper on the fridge with what I had. This sounds better. - by LUNADRAGON
