Secrets of Success

Pull Out Your Measuring Tape

I rarely step on the scale anymore. My measuring tape is a much better indicator of my progress. Since muscle weighs more than fat in one's body and takes up less space, inches reduced tells a better story than a simple weight number. If the scale hasn't budged *and* I've lost a few inches, obviously I'm shedding fat and gaining muscle. So ditch the scale and get out your measuring tape once a month.

  • I am constantly posting this on people's spark pages and message boards. Chuck the scale grab the measuring tape. As we ALL have been told a million times, 1 lb of muscle is smaller than 1 lb of fat, so even if we haven't lost the weight, we are likely much smaller when exercising regularly. - by BICKEY11
  • You made me into a believer but I want to get started with a tape measure that karen in bluejeans spoke about on a podcast. You motivated me to ask her about it and get the details. - by JOE14250
