Pick Up That Penney!

A few yrs ago, I lived on an island where the locals would toss out pennies...some superstition of cultural thing...I don't know. BUT, I would spot the pennies, bend over (exercise here!!) and pick them up. I rolled them and then deposited them in the bank.

Watch for those pennies!!! emoticon

  • Our four sons are all grown now and certainly look at their loose change very differently these days.

But when they were teens I discovered a handful of pennies thrown in the kitchen trash.
Can you imagine? I was shocked.

When I asked who would dare to throw away money they all piped in stating they they didn't carry pennies in their pockets. It wasn't cool.
Can you imagine? I was shocked.

I informed every one of them that from that moment forward they were to toss their unwanted monies into the newly decorated coffee can on the counter.
Can you imagine how shocked they were?

A few years later we decided to move. My DH took all the change to one of those coin counting machines. We had $600!!!!
Can you imagine? I was shocked. LOL

  • I was taught as a child, "A Penny Saved is a Penny earned." So to me they are worth the bend and I have a bad back. I teach high school and the kids do not even like nickles or dimes either and often toss them in the trash. If I see any change I always pick it up. Great success secret. - by PONYFARMER
  • I always pick up pennies when I see them.
They do add up......................very slowly, but still. - by LIVINHEALTHY9
