Secrets of Success

Earn While Paying Bills

We use our Citi credit card to pay all our bills because we earn 1% cashback on everthing. Its pretty nice etting a check from your credit card company. And it adds up fast when you use it consistantly. (the trick is pay the full balance off every month so your NOT incering interest charges) emoticon

I do the same thing. Our AMEX card from Costco gives us 3% on restaurants & gasoline, 2% on travel (hotels, airlines, car rentals) & 1% on everything else. It seems like such a small amount (10 cents back for a $10.00 charge) but if you charge almost everything, it adds up fast. My husband was going to write a check, but I told him to charge our new roof to the card (over $10,000) & got $100+ back just for that one transaction. I also have a Capital One (VISA, I think) with 1% cash back for those places that don't accept AMEX, but I've been seeing ads for Discover cards that pay back even more (could 5% be right?)

As you say, you must pay the credit card bill in full each month or the finance charges will eat away your cash back & keep you in debt for years. (Those of us who pay in full every month are considered "dead beats" by credit card companies because they can't squeeze those finance fees out of us.) - by STORMY724
