  • I always ask for water because its amazing how much they charge for a soft drink!! - by HELENA260
  • I've been doing this for years. Not only does tap water cost less, I am encouraged to drink more water and I'm avoiding caffeine and calories. :-) - by STILLFLYIN
I've always done this, but now that I'm older, it not only saves money but keeps the calories a little lower! - by FELICIAKS
  • I try to do this but I often feel like I am missing something in my meal when I don't have soda or iced tea. It doesn't help that my boyfriend always orders a coke also! Hearing that other people do it though will maybe remind me that all I am missing is extra calories and an empty wallet! - by CREATEABUNDANCE
  • Been doing this for several years. It is great because our kids don't see us drinking pop when eating out therefore they don't ask for it either. They always ask for water as well. - by KRAZYF
  • Like many others when a drink costs more than $2, I refuse to pay that much. I normally ask for water and if it tastes bad to me, I carry crystal light singles in my purse and add that to the water so I don't notice the taste. I used to use the lemon but one hears how bad they are and they carry so many germs that I don't ask for lemon anymore. - by FROSTY99
  • I have always done that cause you can also get full faster if you order a soda. Then later, you will end up being hungry like you never ate anything with drinking a soda. - by SHAKITANWM
  • Just make sure you tip adequately.. not cheaply since you've not ordering drinks. Waitresses/waiters have to make a living too. If you can't tip at least 15% you shouldn't go out.. and 18% would be nice if not ordering drinks. - by LADY_KATHY
