Secrets of Success

Act Your Wage

Saw this powerful statement and it has stayed with me. Too often we use credit or put off bills to make ourselves feel better. Acting my wage means having a reality based spending plan and being willing to stick to it!

  • I like this a lot. We save for any major purchases and only use credit cards for online purchases (which are paid off immediately). It took some adjustment, but I feel much better off financially than I ever have without the stress of debt. We might not be able to get what we want as soon as we want it, but it's so liberating to walk into a store, pay for a large purchase in full, and take it home knowing that we can enjoy it without having to pay for it for the next year. We still have nice things - we just earn them first. - by CHRISTINA791
  • Totally agree with you. - by DIETER27
  • So true! A Dave Ramsey comment. Better yet, live a little below your income and bank the rest so you can develop an emergency fund of 3-6 months of expenses. - by MARYS1928
  • My evil business partner did not act his wage and spent beyond his capability to pay. It made for some difficult times that could have been avoided. The distress of debt destroyed his relationship with most of the people that he knew. Needless to say our relationship is in the process of being severed. My husband and myself had to muster up a lot of courage to stand up to him. He spent like there was always going to be money and we saved everything for a rainy day (which came). He was very angry when the flood came!
