Secrets of Success

In Your Pants...No Going Back

What I have taken to doing is this, when I lose weight enough to affect my clothing, I take in the seams with my sewing machine. I have lost enough weight to where my pant size went down 2 sizes! So, I take the sewing machine out and quickly sew up the side seams of my pants to tighten them. This keeps me motivated and also from over eating as they will get too tight. When my pants become too big to take in, that's when I will buy a new smaller sized pair!

  • Not only do I seam in my pants as they get loose, I also cut off the excess seam allowances so they can't be let back out as an extra incentive to remain vigilant. - by HUMMINGBIRDFLY

I would love to do this, but unfortunately, all of my pants have side pockets and I can't figure out how to take in the pants and still keep the pockets. I used to work at a job where I needed to be in several departments throughout the day. Instead of carrying a purse with me (I often had to carry papers, binders and other things) I'd put my key & a short pen in one pocket & a small amount of money in the other. So I never purchased pocketless pants.

What I do is I wear my older, lose pants around the house for everyday chores. I bought one inexpensive pair of smaller jeans ($7.99 at Kmart) knowing they will be too big soon. Being a packrat has advantages. I dug out all the old clothes that haven't fit me for several years. It's like having a whole new wardrobe. - by STORMY724
