Secrets of Success

Eating Veggies

I always keep veggies washed and cut up in the fridge. If my kids want something to eat right before dinner because they are "starving", I never tell them no, I tell them they my have some veggies. I know that this snack won't ruin their meal and if they don't "feel" like eating veggies they must not be that hungry. Also, if they don't eat as much for dinner at least I know they have something healthy in them!

  • Great idea. I have just started to make some healthy vege soups as starters at dinner time too. These help fill them up. - by WBERRY57
  • Keeping a supply of veggies washed and ready to eat is the key to getting your quota of 5 a day. I'm going to try to make this a habit! - by MGEDDES1
  • I like that this involves the children making the choice to eat the veggies themselves. I think too often people act like their kids would never want to eat veggies, like they have to trick their kids into eating them ground up in spaghetti sauce or something. When I was growing up fruits and vegetables were my main snacks, and I loved them. No one ever told me I wasn't supposed to like them, so I guess I didn't know! - by KLYNSKY
