Secrets of Success

To Preserve Veggies Longer.....

Cut lettuce and other veggies into a large container that seals well. Put a paper towel on top and close lid and put container in frig upside-down. Every time you take out a portion -- change the paper towel -- veggies will stay fresh longer -- I use this trick all the time.

I have been using these GREEN BAGS for years--love them. This is from the site. Debbie Meyer™ GreenBags® use a revolutionary technology to preserve freshness and prolong the useful life of fruits, vegetables and cut flowers; without the use of chemicals.

Stock-up on produce without worrying about rapid spoilage…or keep and enjoy those home-grown fruits and veggies garden fresh!

    Save money by reducing waste!

    How Debbie Meyer™ GreenBags® Work:

Fruits, vegetables and flowers release gas during the natural ripening process after harvest. Exposure of the produce to this accelerates aging and deterioration.
Debbie Meyer™ GreenBags® create a beneficial environment that extends the freshness of fruits and vegetables.

Each Bag is reusable up to 8-10 times--simply rinse with clear water (no soap) and allow to dry before re-use

  • I am sounding like a Tupperware comercial today.. LOL But, Tupperware has my favorite thing ever called FridgeSmarts! They are conatianers to use in your fridge that are vented to control humidity. They have a special guide that tells you one, vent two vents not vents... or don't put me in the fridge! My friends and I have seen our produce costs and waste cute nearly in half! - by OHBEEBLESSED
  • Great tip. I just use the crisper and waste a lot; now I know to use the paper towels. Will definitely try that. - by KLASSIE
  • Thanks for the tip!! I have been cutting up my veg and storing but never thought about the papertowel. I've been wondering how to decrease the amount of condensation on the lids that collects from the vegetables and seems to cause them to wilt quicker. - by AMYRN288
  • Some veggies also benefit from being stored in a container with water. I prep carrots, celery, potatoes and other hardy vegetables for cooking, then keep them in a jar or container of water in the fridge until I'm ready for them. Saves on prep time when I'm hungry, keeps me from eating junk food - by ANNIEDANGER
Great tip! emoticon - by GERAPTIKO
That is a great idea! I will try that rather than the usual way. - by LIVINGONMYTERMS
