Clip Your Keys

Put a clip or latch on your keychain and keep it clipped to your purse handle, totebag, etc. This way, your keys will always be easy to access and you won't be spending time digging through everything else.

  • This idea seems to make key finding much easier, but I like TRANSFORMWE's idea a lot better. What would be safer in the long run for you ladies is to make a way to clip them INSIDE your purses, etc. To keep them on the OUTSIDE actually will invite purse snatchers to target you. (This is JMO from working in law enforcement and teaching personal safety classes.)

  • I too keep my keys on a carabiner. I have one ring for my car keys and a separate one for my house /work keys. I can quickly detach them, when I am valet parking my car, for instance. - by TRANSFORMWE
  • I have a key ring that is attached to a little latch thing (WalMart $0.88). I clip it to my bra, right after I take it out of the ignition. At home a key hanger near the door. I substitute teach and don't like a lot of things hanging from my neck. This way it is not in sight for the middle schoolers to lift (even if in jest). - by SYLVIALYNN2
  • I have been doing this for years, I just lose keys so easily. In my 20's I wore them around my neck on a golden cord with a reflector attached so I could see where ever I had last dropped them! - by SM-ARTGIRL
  • I do that because I have the bad habit of leaving my keys behind. There's nothing worse than closing a door and realizing the key to unlock it is behind the "now locked" door.

My husband has found me sitting on the front porch waiting for him several times before I started the clip method.

Not once since! - by AUNTYEVIL
  • Great idea! I do this - by 1GODISMYROCK1
  • I've had my keys on a carabininer for several years. I usually clip it to my belt loop and if needed to silence them tuck them into my front pocket. It's such a habit anymore I don't realize that I do it. I've worn out several but can always find new "freebies" somewhere if I don't have a spare at home. I even have a couple in the shape of dogs! Got my husband hooked too. - by O24LIFE
  • I've already worn out one carabiner; this works well for me, so I want to continue with it! - by LYNETTEMOM

  • The other thing I do is I always wear a coat or pants with pockets. My cell phone goes in my left pocket and my keys in my right. To avoid locking my keys in the car, I lock the car with my keys from outside (I've had too many calls to AAA for being locked out).
Fortunately, I can't lock myself out of my apartment - I have to lock with the key from the outside. - by TRANSFORMWE
  • carabiner: yeah!, a new vocabulary word for me!

I've tied my keys to my purse handle with a long lanyard for as long as I can remember. The lanyard wraps around my hand when out for a walk without my purse. - by ECOAGE
  • I have been using this idea for a while now. I like most people set them down or put them somewhere any forget where that somewhere was. I got the clip not only for the fact that I can clip to my belt loop or purse but I can slip single keys off also without having to run it through a keyring or hand over the whole set. Like when my hubby decides he needs back in the house for something while we are already in the car ready to go. - by MGNWD22
I am inspired to find my caribener that I know is in my junk drawer! - by GINLEBEN
  • I actually got this idea from a friend......she clips her keys to the shopping cart! Many times in the summer I don't carry a purse, so they go on a belt loop. I have 2 sets of keys, one for when driving, one for walking and biking........when walking they go right on the dogs leash. Carbiner clips are fantastic! - by PEDAL-PUSHER
  • good idea. i'm always digging in my pocketbook looking for my keys. plus the face of my cell phone is scratched because of my keys. i shall try this idea.

  • Oh, I am in love with carabiners for this very reason! - by _MAOMAO_
