  • I have been going through the same thing and I have in the past as well. It is so easy to get discouraged!!! I am one of those people that all of a sudden when I step on the scale I am down 5 lbs just like that after several months of busting my hump. I don't lose 1lb or 2lbs a week...My husband said to me "just think about what you would have gained had you not been taking care of yourself so well in the past few months" that is another way to look at it. You could have gained rather than maintained. Good luck. You can do it. - by TINIWINI
Sometimes when the scale is not moving, the inches are.Don't be discouraged! Focus on everything that you're doing right and tweak the other stuff! It will come! Good luck :)! - by STRONGCHICK1
  • Me too. Don't give up!!! Tweak something instead. Change your workout routine. I am adding weight training. I know I will gain weight initially but it will help bust a plateau. Most important...don't beat yourself up. It will be okay. Do something nice for someone around you and it will make you feel better. That is my secret........ - by MARTIKAFO
  • If you've been doing all the things you should be then, go talk to your doctor. My sister had the same problem, she had to work out for 6hrs each day to lose weight and she lived off of salad, chicken breast and fruits/veggies. Turns out she has hypothytoidism (the thyroid is a gland which controls the output of the bodies regulatory hormones including the reproductive ones), she's like me and refuses to take pills for something that isn't going to kill her so she just sucks it up and knows that her heart is healthy even though she has a few extra pounds on her hips. Best of luck to you. - by MJESPERSEN
I have been cutting so many calories, as I can not do to much of anything, as I am so obese, that it stops me from even walking more than 5 minutes and I am out of breath, anyway....I too, have to cut my calories so much in order to loose, I did really good the first week and now, I have cut even more calories, and I got on the scale and GAINED 4 LBS, BACK, I WAS SO UPSET, LAST NIGHT, I ORDERED A PIZZA AND ATE THE WHOLE THING! TODAY, I AM ASHAMED, THAT I DID NOT KEEP AT IT, AND MAYBEE THIS WEIGHING IN EVERYDAY, IS NOT SUCH A GOOD IDEA...GOING TO TRY TO WEIGH ONCE A WEEK ONLY AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.
p.s. I am sure, we will see some good results soon! emoticon - by SOPHIETR
  • I have the same problem and when I talked to my doctor he said it's not just weight but how you look and feel. If you could look like Julia Roberts and weigh 1000 pounds, would you take it? No one cares about how much you weigh unless they are going to carry you somewhere ;) Keep at it and don't get discouraged it will pay off. And remember you are probably building muscle and it weighs more than fat - it also burns more calories too! - by DIANA72
  • dont give up .. recheck everything and keeep sparking.. it will come off - by DEE107
  • I am having the very same problem. I was in a "plateau", so I changed my diet. I switched over to South Beach diet, from just counting calories and fat grams. It's been 5 weeks now; the first week, I lost 5 pounds, the next 4 weeks? Nada. Nothing. Zero. I bumped up my workout intensity; increased my cardio AND weight training. Still nothing. If you find 'the secret', please share! And good luck! - by AAEBERT
  • Don't be discouraged. Be patient and kind with yourself. - by 2VICKY
