  • As I go round the store on my weekly shop, I note the prices on shelf and the offers available- all in my head.As I go I add up the cost roughly, usually over estimating by a few pennies, which covers the cost of one or two items. When I get to the checkout , as I load the items on the belt, I count again. I am usually within one pound of the actual total. That way, I can keep a check on what I spend and that the store has calculated special offers properly.(I am sure we've all been caught out when the offer was not programmed in properly)Ican do it in my head, as when I worked in a supermarket, I often used mental arithmetic to work out customers bills, just to stay focused emoticon - by DOTTYDRUID
  • Better yet is keep the receipt and you have it for life (if you want too). - by LITTLEBILLY1
  • This is my downfall because I plan so many things into one trip. By the time I remember to subtract its all gone.
