That dog may have been abused to get it to react like that. The pup has frozen and is shut down. Victoria's tone of voice is indicative of verbal abuse. The whale eye, the ears back, the body posture are all indicating a dog who is fearful. If someone touched that dog on it's rump just then - look out! You might be missing a finger. Do you think these owners also think the baby should be able to pull the dog's fur and lips and tail and the dog should just take it? Let me pull your hair and your lip and grab the back of your trousers and pull you around and see how you like it. Stop the abuse. Stop the abuse. STOP THE FREAKING ABUSE!!!

How lowering to discover that a dog has more control than I do!

Ok, I hit enter before I was done. As I wrote, this woman is a dog trainer and has/had a show on Animal Planet. It is difficult to really comment on this snippet without watching the whole video, but it is quite possible that this dog had a problem of grabbing food off plates and needed to be trained. I can't say for sure, but having watched this woman's show, I'm guessing that she was just training the dog.

This kind of reminds me of when I first got my Pinscher, Bart. My daughter was just a month old. I often made him wait for permission just to get his dog food. Even then, I would take it away from him while eating. At first he growled, but he learned with time not to be aggressive. I hated doing this, but I had to do this to break his instinct to protect his food. I had to make sure that if the baby got into his food, she would not get bit.

Note: my dog is spoiled. Yesterday, he got a nice piece of pork and he gets lots of treats during training. Bart and my daughter are both a bit older now, and they are both really attached to each other. I wouldn't judge this dog owner on a trick that she taught him.

i own a Staffordshire terrier (aka pit bull). She is a highly trained animal so that she can be a wonderful family member, confident, able to have self control, etc. Part of her training was and continues to be putting a piece of her favorite food (roasted chicken) on her plate and telling her to 'leave it' until i tell her she is allowed to have it. If someone is doing it for laughs, i agree it is wrong. But if someone has a dog that society generally says is a dangerous breed, then that dog must behave better than other dogs so that the dog has an opportunity to be part of the societal change. LEAVE IT has to be part of her daily .... around the cats, i tell her LEAVE IT if she gets 'that look' in her eyes. And she leaves them. I'm all for it when it's to help create a safe and happy environment for family and pets alike. But not as entertainment.

Hmmm, wonder how a person would feel if someone waved a delicious smelling food in front of their face and then spoke harshly to them to stay away from it? I question this video. I understand the point being made but I think it's mean.

You all don't understand the meaning of the picture. It shows us that we should have that much willpower as the dog.
