As parents, it is up to us to see that each one will reach their potential by creating healthy meals and seeing that they get enough exercise. Report

What is this statement based on? Is it something we can change? Very disconcerting!!! Report

My DS eats quite a bit of processed foods. Like lunch meats, frozen ravioli and things like that. He does make a lot of food also. He would make tacos with cheese, black beans, and taco sauce on a tortilla. He'll make a tenderloin, mashed potatoes, green beans and
salads. He goes to a organic store to get his fruits & veggies. Report

I cannot fix all kids (or husbands)... just mine. When I joined Sparkpeople, I wasn't planning on getting my family to eat right and they didn't. My father would give my daughter pork rinds because that is what they gave him when he was growing up for teething pain. His diet is still bad, but then my generation had fast food...

I don't really think it is as dire as what they say, but responsibility starts at home. I am not going to tell anyone else how to raise their kids, but thanks to Sparkpeople, I started changing my family's eating habits to make them better by changing to healthier, low-fat options and less fast-food / processed food. I also push them out the door to exercise. It isn't easy.

Maybe all the SparKids will learn and then serve as examples to all the other kids and change the world.

If you want kids to live longer, stop feeding them processed food! Also - actively campaign for the removal of GMOs and the chemicals in US foods that have been banned in over 60 other countries! Report
