I disagree that throwing the game was 'helping' the young man, His victory was in being part of the game and not letting his disability stop him from participating in life. Throwing the game for him, is reinforcing the cultural stereotype that only 'winning' is winning.

I know the young man who threw the game did it out of a good place. This is not a critisism of him. This is a criticism of our society which divides people between winners and losers instead of having a more open, inclusive attitude to competition and life. Do you know in some cultures community and togetherness is more valued than being the top person to win? We need more of that in North American society. Report

My step son was a wrestler and I know how hard they train. This video brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. What this boy did to give his opponent an opportunity to feel like a winner - awesome! Report

The world can learn from these boys; the courage to do something you know you might be ridiculed for, and the kindness to support and make someone else feel pride. Report

Nice to see someone want to lose to make someone else succeed Very rare indeed, but true sportsmanship is to lose and be happy for the one who wins especially if you both are of same qualifications, like a job promotion or raise. People are so self promoting these days to point of disgusting and lack of values. True hero!! Report
