I drink a lot but still get dry lips in the winter.

I can definitely tell a difference now that I'm drinking more water!
I take a diuretic. I'm always thirsty. Drinking more doesn't change that.

When I'm thirsty I drink water. It's really not any more complicated than that, and I'm always puzzled by people who make such a big deal about it. Maybe when I have a fever is the only time I will "force" fluids but otherwise I drink when I'm thirsty and never give it a second thought.

I like to look specifically at my finger tips. If it looks like I just got out of the shower and I didn't, it's time to hydrate!
Not always easy to remember to drink when not thirsty.
