I got to thinking about number 1, boredom. Why wasn't I bored with my old way of eating? I ate the same 10-20 different things all the time, yet didn't get bored with them. I have at least 20 different healthy and very delicious dishes in my arsenal now so, what's the difference? I'm not sure what the answer is, but this is something I really need to explore. Thank you for a thought-provoking article. Report

My husband has a serious obesity problem and always wants sugar. I don't buy junk for him. The snack bars I buy use dates instead of sugar for sweetness. He complains because of the calories. They are more filling than his snacks. At least I've convinced him to use an ice cream bowl that limits his serving size. I sometimes use his bowl to measure my own ice cream. He complains when he gains weight eating what I don't. Report
Funniest statement 'Just when you think you have everything under control, something shifts.' For me it was everything - both of us lost jobs, my favorite restaurant changed its menu, last child left for college and first returned from the Navy. We moved out of state... Maybe it took 16 months but it seemed like everything dumped all at once and I had to redefine my lifestyle. Actually dual job loss and major move seemed a constant until forced retirement. Report
