WID - down 1.5 this week. Why oh why can't it go down as fast as it goes up? But, not complaining ... at least it's going down.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

Hi back from vacation and my weigh in is pretty awful.

WID 275

On the plus side, I did get my thyroid biopsy done while I was in South Carolina so can finally get going on dealing with that.

BOTH dh and I are restarting Atkins today so I am always positive. Plus I will resume use of my upstairs exercise room.

Vacations are nice, however so is my home life. I really missed you guys, so despite the freezing rain (which is melting), it's good to be back.

I'd like to say hi to all the new devils. You have joined the most awesome team ever. Avoid the YKW and join in the teasing.

Picked up a new Mac laptop, after the store transferred my data over from the older laptop I've been using for a few years. Afterwards a healthy dinner out with my husband (salmon and a baked potato at the restaurant, and then an apple for dessert when we got home). Yum.

Nope not eating the cat .... yet. Though his meat is defending lean. I left his food box open and he only took one or two bites. He did that in stead of eating out of his bowl He is our best exemplw that food can be controlled.

Never led soup burn ....

Black olives are delicious AND healthy so putting them in salads is a grat idea. I use them a lot :-) ...

OK Jane, I have to admit I snuck some black olives in my salad this afternoon. I know I shouldn't but.

And sometimes, like Tess, I burn things.

emoticon I know what crayons are emoticon ... it just wasn't in my active translation database LOL I had them in many many colours though ...

I ate orange (little slivers of carrot in my salad) I guess that can pass for red, green, yellow white for the rice ... the black was more a cooking result LOL

Hey Tess, when you were a kid, did you not have those waxy coloring things for coloring books. Those are what we call crayons here.

white, black, brown, red, green, yellow, purple and white. I hope this helps.

WEEKEND CHALLENGE:

Today I want you to think back to what the original 8 carons in a box looked like. Now for this weekend, I would like for you to write down and let us know what fruit and/or vegetable you ate for your 8 crayons. If you cannot remember the original 8, then just pick 8 colors and eat fruits and/or vegetables to match the colors. PLEASE let us all know what you are eating. It might help your team members.

Have fun eating all those beautiful, delicious colors.

Connie we are all here to help you make it easier for you to click that seatbelt. For me the thing that has worked the best is tracking all my food and water intake. I carry a notebook and pen with me at all times and mark down everything. Even those samples I dare to ingest at Costco and Sam's.

Found another reason to get my butt moving to lose weight as I'm all bundled up for the -20 degrees and have the layers on I find it difficult to do the seatbelt up because, well there just seems to be more of me that before. Fighting the snow and the cold and now the seatbelt. So one step after another and count the small victories to make the big ones. Have a great day, check in later. emoticon

I don't know if it is this cold, snowy weather or because of the fact that over the last year I have been yo-yoing up and down but my knees have been achey for the last few weeks. It gets so painful I don't even want to move. Better do something to lessen the load these old knees are carrying. One more reason to make changes that are going to last.

Jane and Tess - whether Dutch or English it is the same - meniscus. The meniscus is the ligament that surrounds the actual knee cap and keeps it stable and from moving side to side (lateral movement). The other ligaments are the ACL - Anterior Cruciate Ligament, PCL - Poster Cruciate Ligament, MCL - Medial (inner part of your knee) Cruciate Ligament, and LCL - Lateral Cruciate Ligament. These 4 ligaments attach to the various muscles that provide strength and support to the knee joint. If there is just a sprain or mild tear, it usually will heal on its' own without surgery - although not always, as in my case. For more severe tears, surgery is the only answer. I tore the medial meniscus on my right knee about 3 years ago and had arthroscopic surgery at an outpatient surgery center. I was home in about 4 hours for the total procedure. I was back at work the following week. My primary MD is positive the reason my knee isn't healing is because the amount of walking and force placed on my knee at work. The ICU of a large hospital is very busy - especially this time of year. Most of the patients are sedated and on ventilators and you must do everything for them. There is alot of lifting, pulling, turning them over for their bed baths, etc. You use your legs alot - not to mention just the shear amount of walking required in a large ICU. We almost never sit down, rarely get our full 30 minute dinner break, and feel guilty half the time if we take time to go to the bathroom. The shifts are long - 12 hours. I'm not complaining, just saying it is very busy. I know about the cashier at WalMart thing - I did that as a second job to pay for college. I worked in the Stationary Dept during back to school days and then as a cashier. If your ligaments and meniscus are truly frayed, they should be able to do surgery. If there is problem with the bone, then they would need to replace the knee. My mother has had both knees replaced due to severe osteoarthritis. She is now facing an ankle replacement to her right ankle. I guess she'll be a bionic woman by the time they replace everything the arthritis destroyed. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. I should be able to get in to see an orthopaedist soon. I just wish my primary MD would have referred me sooner. It is so much harder to see a doctor during the holidays.

Message for Jane: So do yesterdays challenge today. It does not matter when we do a bit more exercise as long as we do it.

THURSDAY'S CHALLENGE:

Today we have to keep moving. Add a few extra steps each time you get up to walk. Take the long way. Park a little further. If at a store. Walk all the aisles. Walk the steps. Just move, move, move.

Oh sure...I see the challenge AFTER I get home from work and ready for bed! ROFL

Lisa-I think my work was the blame for why I am still in the brace, after I got injured I was put on light duty and work considered light duty my regular job, as a cashier in the Garden Dept. at Wal-Mart. If you have ever been in one then you know that that job is not in any way light duty. Anyway by the time I went through everything (including physical therapy) they did an MRI and found frayed ligaments, medicus(?) and ACL. NOW I need a knee replacement on top of all that. Someday I might be able to get it done but in the meantime I just go with the flow, and the #1 reason to find another job!

Sorry to hear Jane that you have to be in that brace. I'm also sorry to complain so much. The frustrating thing is that the knee should have healed in about 2 weeks. The doc doesn't know why it hasnt. I shouldn't complain though. I am pretty certain I damaged the knee out "pretending to be younger than I am" hiking Zion's with my kids and husband. We have been a very active family - hiking nearly every weekend that I am home, and now suddenly, I can't hike. I can't even walk without the brace. My doc finally referred me to an ortho, and I hope to see him this week. I'll keep everyone informed. He also wrote me a letter stating that I must not walk on the knee and excused me from work for this week. Hopefully the rest will help it. Take care everyone, and good night.

ALWAYSTRYING71, excuse me, please, if I've asked you before, but what is your first name? Thanks.

I lost another 0.6 lb.. I'll take it. :)

Had 3 medical appointments today (routine). I am taking Coumadin and one was to adjust my doses for this week. My blood is a little thick today. It's probably stress-related, and I'm having trouble falling asleep. The other 2 appointments were both fine. No problem.

Congrats to everyone who lost weight.

Congrats Pixie. Lisa do they let you have anytime for disability? It's ironic that the medical profession would not provide the time to heal properly.

Lisa-I've been wearing a brace for two years now! I can walk without it for limited periods of times but it shows afterwords. I wear it EVERY time I work or I would be crippled!

This is my first challenge so I hope I am doing this correctly. I posted my loss for week 1 yesterday and my next weigh in isn't until Monday which I will post then. If this is incorrect I know our team leader will let me know.

In the meantime I must say it is so helpful to know that I do have to post that weight on Monday. I think of that every time I am tempted to put a bite of food in my mouth. I am so looking forward to total success for our team.

Romantilly, I sure hope the knee feels better and better.

Hi everyone. Sorry I have been MIA. Work last week took its toll on my knee. I had been out of the brace and pain free for a week and had started exercising. That all stopped last week. The pain is back in full force and I braced my knee the entire 3 nights I worked. The doc says I need to rest it, but how do you do that working 12 hour shifts in an ICU? You never sit except to chart what you did for the patient. I've asked my doc to write a note of excuse to take 3 days off this week. We are coming into the busiest times for hospitals and the ICU has been full for a couple of weeks now - way up from only 6 patients a few weeks ago. Anyway, sorry to whine. I'm just tired of wearing a brace and dealing with an injury that should have taken no more than 2 to 3 weeks to heal, and here it is 8 weeks later.

Weight in for this week is not too bad. I am finally losing again. Gained 3 pounds during TOM that never went away after I was finished. I thought it was water - and still do a little. My ankles are puffy and the end of the day.

LW: 202.6
CW: 201.4
Loss: 1.2

This is still a gain from my low a few weeks back of 199.8, so I'll keep working on it.

Take care everyone.

THE RED DEVILS PIT: Were we "live" and post our results :-)

THE RULES:

1. REPORT WEIGHT WEEKLY! You can only post your weightlos once a week. If you lose during the week, that's great. It goes with the next weigh-in.

2. REPORT WEIGHT not matter what it is, LOSS, GAIN or MAINTAIN! ! (In This team the last two are highly unwanted of course),

3. If you do gain one week, you must lose that gain before the next loss counts.

4. PARTICIPATE! It's a team effort, so be there for your team not just in losses, but also in participation in the challenges and the games.

5. FEAR THE YKW!!!!!!

Be a team player be supportive to the team. Syncopating in the other teams is allowed, but no bad comments (unless they are about whips) No tongue sticking out and so on. We're graceful losers all.

You don't need to change weigh-in day: Your staring weight is the loss from your weight measured last week. If you haven't weight for some time: i suggest weight in today or tomorrow and go from there.
