hi everybody.
I had a rummage sale yesterday, and sold all my 3X tops...no going back now! Usually I am a saver..I have clothes anywhere from size 16-24, which is good now that I am losing and don't want to buy anything new.

Danette-take it easy for a few weeks...you will miss the walking I'm sure.

Danette emoticon emoticon emoticon on losing 1.6 and breaking the plateau. I know that you are so smart to take time off to heal your injuries and you will be 100% successful in compensating for the lack of exercise.
I tried to spark up our lunch today. Instead of opening two cans of soup the way I usually do, I opened one tin and topped it off with chicken broth - so that should cut the calories, right 'cause we only got half the pasta and chicken balls that we would usually get.

I lost 1.6 pounds this week. Yeah! The plateau is finally done.

BUT....I've got overuse injuries going on my hip and groin. They are DONE for a couple weeks. So, I will be lowering my calories a lot this week to compensate for a lack of exercise. Wish me luck!

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't been here this week, and No it wasn't on purpose. My modem gave up so I had to wait for DH to install the other one.

I wasn't "bad", however I was unable to log and stuff so I guess I will blame that on my maintain for todays weigh in.

Just went to Sprouts Farmers Market to get all the good stuff I need for the week, I will be back in a bit after I put it all away!!!

I am sitting here with foot elevated and have been alternating ice and heat since I did it yesterday. I think I am on the trail of a foldup treadmill I can use here at home and DH can maintain it and make sure pad isn't worn or slick. That will save me $20 a month for membership. I can't use a lot of the strength machines there anyway due to joint and back problems. I have all kinds of things right here at home I can use to do strength exercises with.
I have tracked 45 minutes worth of strength ones for today and most I don't have to put weight on foot.
Where there is a will, there is a way!!!

Don't worry, I know just how much I can do and NOT to overdo!!! Thanks to y'all for caring so much!!!


I scored 9/16 on that quiz. AWFUL!!! I am so careful about my portions and I ??? some of those questions.

Morning Devils!

Today so far is a good day. I got in my exercise and a good breakfast.

Last night, after about 9 pm, was not so good. It was actually pretty bad. My lil sis spent about 4 hours in the ER last night. She was having problems breathing and getting dizzy spells. All they would tell her is that she has a bug, and then gave her some Cough Syrup with Codine. Oh, and they gave her IVs, saying that she was dehydrated. emoticon Wish they would have given her something to help with the other stuff too.

Things are kind of hectic at the college today. There was a head-on crash last night, about midnight, involving 2 girls that go to school here. One died on impact, and the other went to the hospital with injuries. They havent released names yet, but I feel for their families. I heard the sirens and saw the police, ambulance, and fire trucks last night as they passed, while I was txting my lil sis (who was still at the hospital). It sounded and looked really bad.

Well, am off to go find something for lunch, then go to class, and then disappear for the weekend. Hopefully, I can get on Sunday and post my weight.

Mike, thank you for working on my neck. My dh says that it already looks longer and not so scrunched since I've been using the home-made high row machine (hook in the wall) he made me, so hopefully those muscles will be strong and less achy soon. John wished I had let him put the hook in a long time (a year) ago. My neck is certainly feeling different, it's great that John can see a difference from all this pain. Cheaper than a chiropractor ROTFLMAO
I am going to Chinatown as per my blog, but I think I will do my WATP when I get home as I forgot it is Fri and all the parking will be gone early, so I want to leave right after rush hour finishes.
Francie, I commented on your blog, but I'll say it again, so listen closely PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR DR AND GET BETTER!!!!!
Mike, I gotta tell you I emoticon this weekend's challenge. I didn't think it was possible, but they just get better and better. The last spark recipe I tried was a someone's Scratch cornbread - fast, easy and only 116 cals per generous serving. I'm looking forward to the weekend!

I saw the doctor yesterday and I need knee surgery. I haven't been able to do cardio, but I can do non-weight-bearing exercise. Surgery is 10/13.

The scale doesn't measure improved health, reduced pain, and a better lifestyle.

I got in my exercise for the day. I got 60 mins on the treadmill for my regular cardio(3 miles), PLUS another 30 mins of walking to the Farmer's Market and back(only about 2 miles tho). So, I'm feeling good about this weekend's weigh in.
-I'm going to have to weigh in on Sunday, due to the emoticon slumber party emoticon on Friday night and Sat morning that will probably run til about 4 pm Sat afternoon. I get to watch my 3 y.o niece and her best friend(also 3 y.o.) for the night. Yeah! I'm not complaining- I would if I had to watch their brothers!! The girls are easy- the boys are hellions!

Shirley- have fun working on your car. I should before it starts getting cold. Mayhaps I will do that on Sunday, if I get some time.

I only got 9 right...but then why do they put the nutritional info for 1 tb of pb on the jar and 3/4 c of baby carrots etc if those aren't servings????? Grrrrr
Stay healthy Meagan. My dd called today from university and she sounded pretty shaky, my neck muscles are still sore, but I did my WATP anyway (see my blog)
I wasted the sunshine today, I should have gone out and worked on my car to get it ready for winter. Maybe I'll dig out all the rust-proofing stuff and work on it on the weekend. I HATE working on my car.... I always do a lousy job and the salt wrecks it pretty quickly. I don't know what I do wrong.

Danette--the most steps I have had is 9000. I don't know how you do it! My pedometer is working well. My neighbor bought one on Amazon, looks just like the CVS one, Obertron of something like that. It was on sale a week later for $13.

We are having a rummage sale this week-end and I have been busy gathereing and pricing. Selling some of my 3X stuff.

I got a 12/16... I have some issues with a few of the questions that I got wrong. Mostly the ones that were A & B or A,B&C... I dont eat yogurt often enough to remember the serving size.

Morning Devils!!

I think I might be coming down with a cold or something. I just dont feel very good. I think it has to do with the fact that the AC in my dorm room was fixed. Not that I complained when it was broken much. When it was at 75-80 all the time it felt nice. But my roomies decided it was better if set at 60, so it is... Call me crazy, but I am freezing. And it doesnt help that the air vent is less that a foot from my head when I am sleeping.Ugh!

But I suppose...

Morning all. Danette, you are doing fabulous emoticon I'd better get myself to the exercise room for cardio today (only my neck still feels sore but that may be because of the hook dh set up in the exercise room way high so I can put a really strong firm band (helps to have a tough ballerina baby) and do high rows for my neck.
dd actually bought me a new walk away belt and pedometer for my birthday (sep 7) but she moved to university while I was at the cottage and we can't find the gift anywhere.
Last night dh picked up the chimney pipe for the fireplace. We are missing a support (his fault forgot to order it) and two lengths of insulated pipe (their fault) hope we get it straightened out before the fireplace arrives. It's going to be massive, a 100,000 btu's and takes huge medieval logs. The inset is about 5' and will take 4' logs! I'm soooo excited. We won't get the masonary done until next year, but just to have the fireplace going (in the library) this year will be awesome! However until the pipes get distributed through the different floors I really can't walk or (much to Blackie an Neikos delight) swing a cat. LOL

ok my resting pulse is 70 and my target puse is 120-140. I have had a better day at work I did not have to work on the floor and manage. (that always is stressful). Thanks for all of your advise about my Maui choice. we made our list of pros and cons and after talking to the people who could not give me solid answers I had to refuse do to the riskyness of the venture. At this time in my life I need to know where I stand with the companies.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY to all you devils!!!
It's a very rainy one here in the great Natural Diamond state of Arkansas. It poured buckets of cats and dogs most of the night and looks like more of the same today. I am off to the gym in a few then errands to run before taking DH to cardiologist for checkup. He had a triple bypass surgery in June and is doing great. He has lost 40 lbs!!! GRRRR!!! He had lost some of that before the surgery though.

My resting heart rate is 56 and my heart rate range to get to for aerobic/cardio exercise is 114-145. I hit 128 the other day on the treadmill.

Y'all have a great day and stay focused, on track, and out of trouble!!! emoticon

I scored 7/12 on the Food Showdown Quiz. I recognized most of those from the Food Showdown e-mails from SP that I get. Some I had to guess at.

I subbed today in a 3rd grade class. Boy, there were several little "live wires"!!! I still got my 60 min. walk in after. I did well with my eating, too but now I am emoticon

I got 7/12 correct. I don't do drive throughs much LOL

Mikee....I checked out the stretches and will do some, but after the day I had, I'm too physically and emotionally tired but I will get to them! I put them under my favorites. I wish they had more upper body instead of more of the lower body ones though and some of those upper body ones look like they will effect my lower body too, which I can't do so will check out more indepth when not so exhausted.

Today just disappeared. I did do my WATP at 10 pm (3 mile for the abs with no abs as I did strength training this morning). I did the calf stretch, wide leg advanced forward bend, and seated butterfly stretch for the lower body and camel stretch, cat stretch, neck stretch and torso stretch for the upper body.
That was a great challenge! I'm going off to bed looking forward to whatever challenge tomorrow brings.
Di, take extra good care of yourself and don't let the running to appointments wear you out to much.
Steph, Mike is a really wise guy (groan) and I usually try to listen to him (but if we always did what we were supposed to our horns would probably fall off)

Hi yea Devils! Thank you all for keeping this going so well. Especially while Tess is gone! Beth, are you on Mikey's lap? Better get off.

I'm sorry I'm not here alot, my health and constant doctor appointments are keeping me even more exhuasted. I have 4 doc appts on 4 different days of course! 1 down today, and the next 3 days I have ones too.

Steph- I 3rd what Jane and Mike said. It would be a big move.

Well, on another note... It was SOOOOO much fun to go play flag football. I used to play QB (quarterback) when I was a kid, and that is what I got to play today!! emoticon emoticon I spent a WHOLE 40 minutes running down a field and throwing a ball- and chasing down opponents!! We have 4 girls on the team and 7 guys. And requirements state that there must be 4 girls/4 boys on the field at all times. (We only needed 3 boys, since the other team only had 4 girls/3 boys) So, with no other female fill-ins, I kinda had to play the whole time. AND WE WON!!! emoticon

BTW: WOW! According to Spark- 40 mins of play was 500 kcal burned!! Holy Guacomole!!

(I know... Am a little psychotically hyper today...)

I am also at 10 glasses of water with probably another 8 to go...
And my roommates declared it a "bonding" night... We're making some sort of pasta (I think they said tortellini) with Vodka spaghetti sauce... Yummy!

Wow Steph....and I have to agree with Mike on this one. Make a list and then decide.

On another note.....I had an e-mail from a friend last night. Her husband died on Saturday from a heart attack. He was in is forties.

Well Steph, of course I see Maui and I say WOWIE. But you have factors that I have no idea about. Cost of living, family, friends, climate (which should be a no brainer).

I'd say you and hubby need to talk long and hard about this. Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle and put the positives and the negatives and hopefully you guys can come up with a thoughtful answer to this.

Thinking about some major changes in my life, I have an opportunity to go manage an acute dialysis unit in Maui. Abit scared as I will not be close to my family but can take hubby with me of course. It has always been my dream finish my career on an island doing dialysis. I wanted it to be Guam as I really loved it when we were stationed there for 2 years. It would be a big jump from Chronic dialysis to acute and to a completely diffenrent setting.
what do you all think?

Hello everybody,

Still feel like I got run over by a truck and now two of the kiddos are home with it too!!!

Trying to be good but laying around being bored isnt helping, finished trimming the tree yesterday, somehow when I have a cold being out in the sunshine makes me feel better.

Happy to hear everyone enjoyed looking for the flowers.

Made some yummy chicken veggie soup yesterday think I will go have some, weird for breakfast??..........lol.

Hi all. I think I got lost for a bit. LOL
The stretching is a great idea. I've already done my strength training and gotten changed so I can get out and about, but after I do my cardio tonight I'll do some stretches.
The end of my nose is so red and sore from being outside the last 4 days, that I am thankful to go into town today for cat food (ridiculous I know, but he's allergic to corn) and then I want to CLEAN this house - well I know that's impossible but I could make a dent.
Yesterday I had an alcoholic drink (a salty dog) and still stayed within my calorie range. I am tracking most days, but want to make it everyday - it is the single tool that has the greatest impact on my weight loss.

Morning All!!

emoticon The sun is shining, the birds are chirping... Well, I dont know if the birds are chirping, due to the noise from the construction crew outside my window, but it looks gorgeous outside!

I got all my stretches done already. I did the lying double knee stretch, the lying single knee stretch, and the seated butterfly stretch for my lower body. I did the Child's pose, cat stretch and camel stretch for my upper body. emoticon I don't usually do those upper body stretches, but they looked interesting this morning...

Well, am off now to go find something yummy for breakfast. Unfortunately, my roommate toasted the microwave last night, so I will actually have to think about what to make on the stove..

Morning!

You've done so well in losing Danette that your body needs a rest. .3 is nothing to shake your head over you know.

I can't wait until Thur. and Fri as I'm off and on Fri. I get to go to a grandparent breakfast! I have a nine yr old just as happy as can be!

Checking in! I lost .3 pounds this week. ARGH!!! Guess it is better than gaining or not losing at all! I even walked enough last week to burn over 3,500 calories and THAT should have been at least a pound.

Oh, well. Plateau it is.

Evening All!

Well, my day has just been peachy... I went shopping.. And spent around $20... all on books... Yep, well, it was a deal at the flea market and I really wanted some new books... emoticon

It made me feel better about my horrible meltdown over my weight this AM.

I am sooo tired after the work week this week. but am taking it easy today. We had our big picnic for the patients this Saturday and it was a big success, plent of fun and food.
