This is a great question. SP is planning for people who can't log on every day. There are a number of reasons like busy schedual so maybe you can only log on on the weekends, or you go on vacation.

When you log on every day you only get 6-7 points depending on the day. But when you don't log on for a while you will get more points all in one day.

Make sense?

But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.

On the spark points it says 1 pt for each e-mail read with a maximum of 50. I only get about 6 of the daily newsletters...thus 6 pts.

I respond to a lot of the spark team discussions but get no points for that.

How would someone get 50?

Another thing you could do is look at the bag and see what it says for total ounces and then divide the amount of the bag you think you ate. One trick I learned from someone was to divide up big bags of chips/m&ms/snack crackers into single portion little baggies so I could just grab one when I wanted a quick snack and not have to think about the calories. It's a pain to count out 15 bags of 18 crackers but so much easier to eat them over the next couple of weeks.

here is a link that list's the calories in M&M's I would say it is between .15 & .25 of a cup depending on the size of your hand and how big the handful is.

Let me know if that sounds reasonable.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to find a few minutes this afternoon to enter a couple of recipes.

Next question: I'm having trouble with the Nutrition Tracker - figuring out an amount for what I eat. For example, I just had a handful of peanut M&M's (I know, I know, not the best snack choice!) - how much should I enter for an amount??? The only choice in is ounces - I have no idea how many ounces a handful of M&M's are!!

The last choice under "Healthy Lifestyle" is "SparkRecipes.com".

Click on that and then look for the "Recipe Calculator". That will bring up a screen where you can type everything in and then at the very bottom there is a box that lets you choose whether or not to share it on SparkPeople. Thanks for wanting to help us all out, I love trying new recipes :)

Floatyrose Go to www.sparkrecipe.com then hit the calculator tab. Because they get so many it will probably stay in spark recipes at least for a while. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I'm not sure what you're asking but I'll try to explain both of the trackers.

Nutrition: You can either choose to have meal plans listed for you with a shopping list you can print off to help you follow it or you can disable it and make up your own menu every day. When you search for foods in the data base you will often find what you ate that day but if you can't you can click on "enter a food not listed" and type in the nutrition facts for the package. The website stores everything you enter for each day so you can see how everything you ate fits together. There's a little picture of the water glass up at the top where you can mark how much water you drank.

For the workout tracker you can update it each day with the amount of exercise you did. It will keep a running total that shows how close you are to your weekly calorie burning goal.

I hope this helps.

Question about the meal tracker and workout tracker.

Those meals include everything? Today I had a bag of chips and 2 healthy choice dinners the dinenrs combined to 360 total calories and the bag of chips totaled 320. Plus I drink four 20oz bottles of water everyday.

The workout track that you put in the specific time that is by day correct? Or is it by week?

Thanks for the response. emoticon

The weight loss tickers, right?

If you look toward the bottom of your spark page when you click "edit my sparkpage" there is a place where you can choose and customize your ticker. You also need to click the box to make it public for it to show up with your posts. Every time you "weigh in" on the start page it will automatically update.

Well, I have one question (I have tons of them but I give them out one at a time cause otherwise I don't really have time to understand the answers lol), I start with an easy one I think...

Where does everyone get those nice meters they have under their signature in their message? I mean those: "way to go" -meters.
