I made a vegetable curry this week. \it was interesting if nothing else.
Broccoli, bok choy and tofu with a homemade green curry sauce.
Not my best effort. Definitely a new use for all the curry sauce ingredients and the bok choy.

For this past week I got some dried turkish figs.
Had never had these before.
They taste a lot like the filling in fig newtons!
Honestly haven't tried anything new this past week.
Was at Whole Foods Saturday and didn't find anything there.
I am going to try something with watercress this week.

I've started making my own fruit yogurt; I buy plain yogurt, add unsweetened frozen berries and a little stevia. I've also found a LaCroix carbonated drink with natural fruit flavors, no sweeteners at all! For me, that's new!

Lori, that salmon recipe sounds interesting.

I too have had a difficult time coming up with something new. I'm going to count the edamame at Ruby Tuesday's salad bar, and I bought a whole bag of baby kale. Hmmm, I might grow kale this Summer...

April 1 - 8 I have tried a couple of new recipes. Have not found any new products as far as unfamiliar veggies of fruits, however I did make steal cut oats with pears in it which was new to me. I also had oven grilled teriyaki salmon which was made by adding spices to carrots and broccoli and smooshing them in a flat bed and laying the salmon topped with homemade glaze over the top. I would only say this was okay, not great.

Freggies!

April 1 - 8: I found Market Fresh Mukimame at Target. It's shelled soybeans or basically edemame that has been shelled. It was easy to steam in the bag and while not the most flavorful dish, you can add a bit of salt and eat them or add to soups, salads, etc. They are high in fiber and protein. I enjoyed them and have leftovers to take to work for lunch.

April 9 - 16: I found frozen squash at Target that you microwave in the bag. I tried the refrigerated squash last year and wasn't thrilled with it. I do like the frozen squash better. It cooked up better than the refrigerated squash. Go figure!

April 17 - 23: I found golden berries (aka cape gooseberries) at the store today near the other berries and thought I'd try them. My daughter and I tried them plain and they are ok, but I couldn't eat a lot of them that way. I may put them in our smoothies tomorrow - that might be better.

April 23 - 30: Tonight I found California style protein blends and southwest style protein blends in the frozen veggie section at the grocery store. I made the California style and it was pretty good. It says it's a blend of grains, lentils, peas, broccoli, and shelled edamame with a light garlic sauce. It was a bit spicy so it was good.

Try a new fruit of vegetable each week and report back here. We have done this before and finding new items is a huge challenge so new recipes for an item work too.
