Ooo, I love it, the "dreadmill"! emoticon It's like the word "freggies" I first saw here. For me, dread tells it like it is.

I keep track of the overall picture. In the past, I've dwelt on each week. Now... How far have I come since I started? Or how far have I come since Jan. 1? I can't focus on the ultimate goal (90 lbs) and I can no longer focus week to week. So, I have mini goals and celebrate my progress towards them. Right now.. my goal is to hit 199. 14 lbs down, 12 lbs to go!!

Also, I am really trying to get active. But again.. I have mini goals. Hubby runs marathons... no way can I deal with what he would like me to do. So my goals... doable some weeks and a challenge some weeks. (not big ones, just enough that I'm really proud! Could just be an extra 5 on the treadmill or bumping it up a tenth of a mile.) Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's enough to make me say "yea, me!"

Keep in mind how much easier it will be walking this spring with 10 less lbs! Or how we can go hiking with our families because we spent the winter on the "dreadmill". Or how cute we are going to look in those shorts this year! Or heaven forbid... we have to get rid of the old ones and actually buy new smaller ones!

Ow, that's a tough one. Up here, I think we're all a little down. Here's what I'm going to do today. I'm making a list of the things I want to accomplish this Summer, and am including fun stuff, too. Like grill at least twice a week. Spend more time in the gazebo with the chiminea burning pine cones. Go to the zoo once a month. Paint the back bedroom and bathroom. Open the windows in the house as soon as the nights are above 50 degrees. Counting calories and steps is not fun, it's drudgery, and we have to cheer ourselves up with what we truly enjoy, to get through the stuff we truly don't. emoticon

I was messaged this past week by someone who wanted to know how to stay positive when not seeing the results they wanted. I tried to encourage them the best I could, but wanted to challenge all of you with this: How do YOU stay positive, when you've lost a pound since your last weigh-in, but you had gained a few pound from the weigh-in before that? When you just feel blaaaaaaaaaaaaah because of this lovely state we live in & can't do anything fun outside?

Any & all replies/suggestions welcome!
