New record: 7-year old ran a HM in 1:41! (The old record was 1:43.) Check out this picture of her - Hard to imagine anyone who looks so cute can demolish all of us in a HM. :-P

I see those young kids running (right past me) and I wonder will they still love this in high school?

Yep, Those little kids can blow right by me. I've run only two half marathons and don't remember any kids in those races. Every time I run a 5K, though, I notice all the kids at the start who I know are going to beat me in.

I'm just happy to finish. Every now and then, if the field is small, I place.

My goal is to continue to be able to run the distance.

I am proudly near the last finisher at most every race I go to. I may not be fast but I am consistent and that is good enough for me =)

Most people can beat me. It doesn't bother me though.

I always have to convince children to let me pass them. People older than myself I just have to try to muscle by - they aren't slowing down!!

Last week, a DC-area 10-year old lowered the world record HM time to 1:35.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the lowest age that my own HM PR (1:52) is competitive with. I learned that an 8-year old can beat me. :-P

The two HMs put on by my local running club require runners to be at least 18. At least there's that.
