My advice for nutrition is - experiment on your training runs and do what works for you.
Plan on getting warmer once you start running. One trick is to wear a throw away sweat shirt or a garbage bag prior to the start. The garbage bag is great for keeping you warm and easy to throw away. It's a common trick that runners use so you shouldn't feel weird.
I also wear gloves when it is cold. I keep a diaper pin on my fuel belt and clip them on once I don't need them any more.

I tend to get hot quickly when I run, so my choices might not be warm enough for a lot of people. :) That's one thing I like about the Runner's World tool--you can put in whether you like to be cool, warm, or in between, so it can account for personal preferences a bit.

I like your general guidelines, thank you. I had seen something like that somewhere but not sure where. I will be checking out the link, thanks for that too.

On a good note, my sister and I walked/jogged 9.25 miles on Saturday, up and down some big hills. did good,

I am having a bit of an issue with my it band on my right leg, so have been focusing on some stretches etc for that, hoping it does not become an issue.

I agree that whatever you wear (and eat, for that matter), you should try out before race day. I am very fond of the Runner's World What to Wear tool ( www.runnersworld.com/what-to-wear ) for helping me decide what I should wear when I'm not sure. (My general guidelines are in the 70s, tank and shorts; 50s and 60s: short sleeves and shorts; 40s: long sleeves and shorts; 30s: long sleeves and capris; 20s: long sleeves and tights; teens: long sleeves, tights, and jacket. That's all dependent on wind, rain/snow, etc., too.

Good luck and have fun!

What you wear depends on the temperature. Dress as if it's 10 degrees warmer than what the thermometer says it is. You will warm up soon enough. Lots of women seem to prefer those capri pants. As for food. I like to carry gu, jelly beans, and Clif bars.

Congrats on the half! First thing I would recommend is to look at the weather and then layer as appropriate. General rule of thumb is "cotton is rotten" - I wear wicking material and keep in mind that many of us get warmer when we run. I use the method that says when I am running it will be 20 degrees warmer than what the air temp says it is and I dress for that temperature and layer as needed before that. Also, be sure to try it out before race day. It is usually not a good thing to wear/eat/drink something you have not trained with. Keep us posted in how it goes!
